How to Use

Dosage

For ITP: Adults and children (6-17 years old) usually start with one 50 mg tablet once daily. If you are of East or Southeast Asian origin, you might start with 25 mg. Children (1-5 years old) usually start with one 25 mg tablet once daily. For Hepatitis C: Adults usually start with one 25 mg tablet once daily. If you are of East or Southeast Asian origin, you will start with the same 25 mg dose.

Method

Swallow the tablet whole with some water.

Important

Do not take more than one dose of Eltrombopag Avansor per day.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Upper respiratory infection (e.g., common cold, sinus infection, sore throat)
  • Cough
  • Nausea and diarrhea

  • Increased liver enzymes (seen in blood tests)

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to eltrombopag or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Tell your doctor if you have liver problems, as there's a higher risk of serious liver damage and blood clots, especially with chronic liver disease.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have a risk of blood clots or if they run in your family.
  • Do not take this medicine with dairy products, antacids, or mineral supplements (like iron, calcium, magnesium, aluminum, selenium, and zinc) for 4 hours before and 2 hours after your dose, as they can stop the medicine from working properly.
  • Do not stop taking Eltrombopag Avansor without talking to your doctor, as your platelet count will likely drop again within days.
