How to Use

Dosage

One 0.7 ml dose.

Method

Given as an injection into a muscle or under the skin.

Important

Only one dose is given at a time.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Pain at the injection site.
  • Redness at the injection site.
  • General feeling of being unwell (malaise).
  • Headache.
  • Muscle pain.
  • Swelling at the injection site.
  • Bruising at the injection site.
  • Hardening at the injection site.
  • Fever.
  • Chills.
RARE
  • Itching at the injection site.
  • Tiredness, drowsiness (lethargy).
  • Nausea.
  • Vomiting.
  • Diarrhea.
  • Cough.
  • Muscle weakness.
  • Indigestion (dyspepsia).
  • Sore throat (pain in the mouth and throat area).
  • Unusual weakness (asthenia).
  • Joint pain (arthralgia).
  • Lightheadedness.
  • Night sweats.
  • Rash.
  • Numbness or tingling sensation (paresthesia).
  • Nasal inflammation (severe runny nose).
  • Dizziness (vertigo).
  • Increased redness of the whites of the eyes (ocular hyperemia).
  • Pain in the limbs.
  • Severe allergic reactions like low blood pressure, difficulty breathing, fast heart rate, swelling in the face, tongue, or throat.
  • Allergic skin reactions, including itching, hives, and rash.
  • Reduced number of platelets, which can cause bruising or bleeding.
  • Swollen lymph nodes in the neck, armpits, or groin.
  • Nervous system disorders, which may cause stiff neck, confusion, numbness, limb pain and weakness, balance issues, or paralysis.
  • Facial paralysis (Bell's palsy).
  • Vision problems due to optic nerve dysfunction.
  • Seizures (including fever convulsions).
  • Fainting soon after vaccination.
  • Blood vessel inflammation (vasculitis), which can cause rash and, rarely, kidney problems.
  • Chest pain.
  • Wheezing, tight feeling in the throat, difficulty breathing.

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to the active ingredients, any other vaccine ingredients, or tiny amounts of egg or formaldehyde.
  • Tell your doctor if you have a weak immune system.
  • Tell your doctor if you have a bleeding disorder or bruise easily.
  • Tell your doctor if you have had Guillain-Barré syndrome after a previous flu shot.
  • The vaccination should be delayed if you have a fever or an acute illness.

  • This vaccine is only for adults aged 60 and older; it should not be given to children.
  • Tell your doctor if you will have a blood test within a few days after vaccination, as it can affect the results.
