How to Use

Dosage

Usually, take one 60 mg tablet once a day.

Method

Swallow the tablet whole with water. You can take it with or without food. If you have trouble swallowing, the tablet can be crushed and mixed with water or apple sauce right before taking.

Important

Do not take more than your doctor prescribes, which is usually one 60 mg tablet per day. Taking more than recommended can increase your risk of bleeding.

  • Bleeding from a surgical wound after an operation
  • Bloody coughs (coughing up blood)
  • Brain bleeding
  • Other types of bleeding
  • Low blood platelet count (may affect blood clotting)
  • Allergic reaction
  • Hives
  • Bleeding in muscles
  • Bleeding in joints
  • Bleeding in the abdomen
  • Bleeding in the heart
  • Bleeding inside the skull
  • Bleeding after a surgical procedure
  • Severe allergic reaction (anaphylactic shock)
  • Swelling in any part of the body due to allergic reaction

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to edoxaban or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Do not take if you are currently bleeding.
  • Do not take if you have a condition that increases your risk of severe bleeding (e.g., stomach ulcer, brain injury or bleeding, or recent brain or eye surgery).
  • Do not take if you are taking other medicines that prevent blood clotting (like warfarin, dabigatran, rivaroxaban, apixaban, or heparin), except when switching treatments or for keeping a catheter open.
  • Do not take if you have liver disease that increases your risk of bleeding.

  • Do not take if you have uncontrolled high blood pressure.
  • Do not take if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have an increased risk of bleeding due to conditions like severe kidney or liver disease, bleeding disorders, recent brain bleeding, or a mechanical heart valve.
  • Inform your doctor if you have antiphospholipid syndrome (an immune system disorder that increases blood clot risk), as your treatment might need to be changed.
  • If you need surgery, it is very important to take this medicine exactly as your doctor tells you before and after the operation. You may need to stop taking it at least 24 hours before surgery.
