Dymista is a nasal spray used by adults to relieve symptoms of moderate to severe seasonal allergies like runny nose, sneezing, and congestion when other allergy medicines are not enough.

How to Use

Dosage

One spray in each nostril, twice a day (morning and evening).

Method

Shake the bottle, prime the pump if new or unused for 7 days, blow your nose, tilt your head slightly forward, insert the nozzle into one nostril, close the other, spray once while gently breathing in, and exhale through your mouth. Repeat for the other nostril.

Important

Do not exceed a total of four sprays per day (one spray per nostril, twice daily) unless directed by a doctor.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Nosebleed
  • Headache
  • Bitter taste in the mouth, especially if you tilt your head back while spraying. This usually goes away by drinking something.
  • Unpleasant smell
RARE
  • Mild irritation inside the nose, which may cause slight stinging, itching, or sneezing.
  • Dry nose
  • Cough
  • Dry or irritated throat
  • Dry mouth
  • Dizziness and drowsiness
  • Cataracts, glaucoma, or increased eye pressure, which can lead to vision loss, red and painful eyes. These have been reported after long-term use.
  • Damage to the skin and mucous membranes inside the nose.
  • Nausea, fatigue, exhaustion, or weakness.
  • Rash, itchy skin, redness, or itchy bumps.
  • Bronchospasm (tightening of the airways in the lungs).
  • Blurred vision
  • Nasal ulcers

Important Warnings

  • Do not use Dymista if you are allergic to azelastine, fluticasone propionate, or any other ingredients in the medicine.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have recently had nose surgery, a nasal infection, tuberculosis, any untreated infection, adrenal gland problems, or severe liver disease.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have changes in your eyesight, or a history of increased eye pressure, glaucoma, or cataracts.
  • If your symptoms do not improve after 14 days of regular use, or if you need to use Dymista for more than 3 months, consult your doctor.
  • Avoid getting the medicine in your eyes.

  • Seek immediate medical attention if you experience severe allergic reactions such as swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat, difficulty swallowing or breathing, or a sudden rash. This is very rare.
