How to Use

Dosage

One capsule once a day.

Method

Take 30 minutes after a meal. Swallow the capsule whole with water; do not chew or open it, as the contents can irritate your mouth or throat.

Important

Do not take more than one capsule per day.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Trouble getting or keeping an erection
  • Lower desire for sex
  • Problems with ejaculation, like less semen during sex
  • Larger or tender breasts
  • Feeling dizzy
RARE
  • Heart failure (heart not pumping blood well, causing shortness of breath, extreme tiredness, swollen ankles/feet)
  • Low blood pressure when standing up, making you feel dizzy or faint
  • Fast or irregular heartbeat
  • Constipation, diarrhea, vomiting, nausea
  • Feeling weak or tired
  • Headache
  • Itchy, blocked, or runny nose
  • Rash, hives, itching, hair loss or hair growth
  • Swelling of eyelids, face, lips, arms, or legs
  • Fainting
  • Long-lasting and painful erection
  • Very serious skin reactions (e.g., Stevens-Johnson syndrome)
  • Depression
  • Pain and swelling in testicles
  • Nosebleeds
  • Changes in vision (blurry or worse eyesight)
  • Dry mouth

Important Warnings

  • This medicine is only for men; women, children, and teenagers under 18 must not use it.
  • Do not take if you are allergic to dutasteride, tamsulosin, similar medicines, soy, peanuts, or any other ingredients.
  • Do not take if you have low blood pressure that causes dizziness, lightheadedness, or fainting when you stand up.
  • Do not take if you have severe liver disease.
  • Women, children, and teenagers should not handle leaking capsules. If skin contact occurs, wash immediately with soap and water.

  • Use a condom during sex. The medicine can pass into semen and may harm an unborn male baby if your partner is pregnant or might become pregnant.
  • This medicine affects PSA blood test results. Always tell your doctor that you are taking it before any PSA test.
  • Some studies showed a higher risk of a severe type of prostate cancer in men taking dutasteride.
  • Tell your doctor immediately if you notice breast enlargement, tenderness, lumps, or nipple discharge, as these can be signs of breast cancer.
  • Contact your doctor if you experience mood changes, depression, or thoughts of self-harm.
  • If you feel dizzy, do not drive or operate machines.
  • Heart failure has been reported more often when dutasteride is taken with another alpha-blocker (like tamsulosin).
  • If you need cataract surgery, tell your eye doctor that you are taking or have taken this medicine.
  • Seek urgent medical help and stop taking this medicine if you have signs of a severe allergic reaction like a widespread blistering rash or swelling of your face, lips, or throat.
