How to Use

Dosage

Take one 0.5 mg capsule once a day.

Method

Swallow the capsule whole with water. Do not chew or open it. You can take it with or without food.

Important

The most you should take in one day is one 0.5 mg capsule.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Difficulty getting or keeping an erection. This may continue after you stop taking the medicine.
  • Less interest in sex. This may continue after you stop taking the medicine.
  • Problems with ejaculation, such as less semen during sex. This may continue after you stop taking the medicine.
  • Breasts becoming larger or feeling sore.
  • Feeling dizzy when taking this medicine with tamsulosin.
RARE
  • Heart failure (heart struggles to pump blood, causing shortness of breath, extreme tiredness, and swollen ankles or feet).
  • Hair loss (usually from the body) or increased hair growth.
  • Feeling sad or depressed.
  • Pain and swelling in your testicles.

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to dutasteride, other similar medicines (5-alpha-reductase inhibitors), soy, peanuts, or any other ingredients.
  • Do not take this medicine if you have severe liver disease.
  • Tell your doctor if you have ever had liver problems.
  • Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant, children, and teenagers should not touch leaky capsules. If skin contact happens, wash the area with soap and water right away.
  • Use a condom during sex if your partner is pregnant or might become pregnant. This medicine can affect a male baby's development.

  • This medicine can affect blood tests for prostate cancer (PSA test). Make sure your doctor knows you are taking this medicine before any blood tests.
  • This medicine can cause your breasts to get bigger or feel tender. If you notice any lumps or fluid from your nipple, tell your doctor right away, as these could be signs of a serious condition like breast cancer.
