How to Use
Dosage
The usual starting dose for pain is one 10 mg/5 mg prolonged-release tablet every 12 hours. Your doctor will decide your exact daily dose.
Method
Swallow the tablet whole with enough liquid. Do not break, chew, or crush the tablets. You can take it with or without food. Take your Duoxona every 12 hours, at the same times each day (e.g., 8 AM and 8 PM).
Important
The maximum daily dose is 160 mg of oxycodone hydrochloride and 80 mg of naloxone hydrochloride for pain. Your doctor will determine your maximum dose.
Possible Side Effects
COMMON
- •Decreased appetite or loss of appetite
- •Sleep problems (insomnia), tiredness, fatigue, depression
- •Headache, dizziness, drowsiness, spinning sensation (vertigo), difficulty concentrating, tremor, tingling in hands or feet
- •Hot flushes
- •Abdominal pain, constipation, diarrhea, dry mouth, indigestion, vomiting, nausea, flatulence
- •Itchy skin, skin reactions (rashes), sweating
- •Blurred vision
- •Low or high blood pressure, fast heartbeat (palpitations)
- •Chest pain, chills, thirst, general pain
RARE
- •Allergic reactions
- •Restlessness, unusual thoughts, anxiety, confusion, nervousness
- •Seizures (convulsions), speech problems, fainting
- •Abdominal bloating
- •Increased liver enzymes, gallstone attacks
- •Muscle cramps, muscle twitching, muscle pain
- •Increased urge to urinate
- •Withdrawal symptoms (agitation, feeling unwell, swelling in hands, ankles, or feet)
- •Weight loss or gain
- •Accidental injuries
- •Decreased sex drive, sudden sleep attacks
- •Changes in taste
- •Yawning
- •Dental problems
- •Drug dependence
- •Breathing difficulties, runny nose, cough
- •Erectile dysfunction
Important Warnings
- Do not use if you are allergic to oxycodone hydrochloride, naloxone hydrochloride, or any other ingredient in this medicine.
- Do not use if you have severe breathing problems where your breathing cannot get enough oxygen or remove enough carbon dioxide.
- Do not use if you have a severe lung disease (like COPD, cor pulmonale) or severe asthma.
- Do not use if you have a bowel obstruction (paralytic ileus) not caused by opioids.
- Do not use if you have moderate to severe liver failure.

- If you are taking this for restless legs syndrome, do not use if you have a history of opioid abuse.
- Do not break, chew, or crush the tablets. Doing so can cause a dangerously high dose to be released, which could be fatal.
- This medicine is only for adults.
- This medicine is not suitable for treating withdrawal symptoms.
- If you feel sleepy or suddenly fall asleep, do not drive or use machines. Talk to your doctor.
