Duocort cream is used to treat eczema that also has a bacterial or yeast infection.

How to Use

Dosage

Apply a thin layer to the affected skin area 1-3 times a day.

Method

Apply thinly to the affected skin area until the inflammation subsides, usually for a maximum of two weeks. After this, treatment can be continued with a basic moisturizer or a corticosteroid-only cream if needed.

Important

Do not exceed 3 applications per day. For infants, do not use for more than 7 days.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Thinning of the skin, especially on sensitive areas like around the eyes, face, armpits, and skin folds.
  • Stretch marks, widened blood vessels, bruising.
RARE
  • Weakened adrenal gland function.
  • Contact allergy (to ingredients in the cream), hypersensitivity reactions, including sensitivity to light.
  • Severe allergic reaction (anaphylactic shock).
  • Worsening of rash when stopping long-term treatment (steroid withdrawal syndrome: skin redness that may spread, burning or stinging sensation, severe itching, skin peeling, oozing blisters).
  • Symptoms of Cushing's syndrome (e.g., 'moon face,' muscle wasting, bone loss, high blood pressure, psychological symptoms).
  • Increased eye pressure, glaucoma, cataracts, blurred vision, corneal damage, permanent eye damage including vision loss (if cream accidentally gets in eyes during surgery).
  • Acne, pigment changes, increased hair growth, perioral dermatitis, rosacea, delayed wound healing, steroid dependence.

Important Warnings

  • Do not use Duocort cream if you are allergic to hydrocortisone butyrate, chlorhexidine digluconate, or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not use if you have open skin wounds, rosacea, perioral dermatitis, viral skin infections, skin tuberculosis, or skin changes caused by syphilis.
  • Do not use for infants under 1 year old with a rash. Long-term use in children can affect their growth and development.
  • Avoid contact with eyes and inner ear. If the cream gets into your eyes, rinse immediately and thoroughly with water. Contact a doctor if irritation, redness, or pain occurs.
  • Chlorhexidine can cause severe allergic reactions. If you experience swelling in your throat/mouth or difficulty breathing, stop using Duocort and seek immediate medical attention.

  • If symptoms worsen or do not improve within 2-4 weeks, consult your doctor.
  • Avoid use on sensitive skin areas (like genitals and around the eyes). Avoid long-term use on large skin areas, in skin folds, or under bandages without a doctor's advice.
  • Contact your doctor if you experience blurred vision or symptoms of Cushing's syndrome (e.g., 'moon face').
  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, ask your doctor for advice. Avoid using on large skin areas, in large amounts, or for long periods during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Do not apply to breast skin during breastfeeding.
