How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will tell you the right dose. Usually, it's 60 mg once a day. For anxiety, you might start with 30 mg, then often move to 60 mg, but your doctor might adjust it up to 120 mg.

Method

Swallow the capsule whole with water. Do not crush or chew it.

Important

Do not take more than 120 mg in one day. Always follow your doctor's instructions.

  • Blurred vision
  • Ringing in the ears
  • Pounding heart or fast/irregular heartbeat
  • High blood pressure or hot flashes
  • Constipation, diarrhea, stomach pain, vomiting, heartburn, gas
  • Increased sweating or itchy rash
  • Muscle stiffness, muscle pain, or muscle spasms
  • Painful or increased urination, or difficulty urinating
  • Erection problems or changes in ejaculation
  • Tiredness or weight loss
  • Thoughts of harming yourself
  • Seizures or involuntary muscle movements
  • Liver damage, which may cause stomach pain and yellowing of the skin or whites of the eyes (jaundice)
  • Severe allergic reaction with breathing difficulties, dizziness, or swelling of the tongue/lips
  • Serotonin syndrome: symptoms may include restlessness, hallucinations, confusion, fast heartbeat, high fever, muscle stiffness
  • Heavy vaginal bleeding soon after childbirth
  • Chest pain, shortness of breath, dizziness, fainting, or irregular heartbeat

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to duloxetine or any of its ingredients.
  • Do not take this medicine if you have severe liver or kidney problems.
  • Do not take this medicine if you have taken certain other antidepressant medicines called MAOIs in the last 14 days.
  • Do not take this medicine if you are already taking another medicine that contains duloxetine.
  • Do not stop taking this medicine suddenly without your doctor's advice, even if you feel better.

  • Seek urgent medical help if you feel restless, confused, have hallucinations, a fast heartbeat, high body temperature, muscle twitching, severe nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea. These can be signs of a serious reaction called serotonin syndrome.
  • If you have thoughts of harming yourself or suicide, contact your doctor or go to a hospital immediately.
  • This medicine might make you sleepy or dizzy. Do not drive or use heavy machinery until you know how it affects you.
