How to Use

Dosage

For depression and diabetic neuropathic pain, the recommended dose is 60 mg once daily. For anxiety, start with 30 mg once daily, and most patients move to 60 mg once daily.

Method

Take Duloxetin Stada by mouth. Swallow the capsule whole with water. Take the medicine at the same time each day to help you remember.

Important

Do not exceed the maximum daily dose prescribed by your doctor, which can be up to 120 mg.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Headache, drowsiness
  • Nausea, dry mouth
  • Loss of appetite
  • Sleep problems, agitation, decreased sex drive, anxiety, difficulty reaching orgasm, unusual dreams
  • Dizziness, sluggishness, tremors, numbness, tingling or prickling sensation on the skin
  • Blurred vision
  • Tinnitus (ringing in the ears)
  • Palpitations
  • High blood pressure, flushing (hot flashes)
  • Increased yawning
  • Constipation, diarrhea, stomach pain, vomiting, heartburn, indigestion, gas
  • Increased sweating, itchy rash
  • Muscle pain, muscle cramps
  • Painful urination, frequent urination
  • Erectile dysfunction, ejaculation problems
  • Falls (mostly in older people), fatigue
  • Weight loss
RARE
  • Sore throat, hoarse voice
  • Suicidal thoughts, sleep problems, teeth grinding, clenching teeth, disorientation, lack of motivation
  • Seizures and involuntary muscle movements, restlessness, nervousness, difficulty concentrating, changes in taste, difficulty controlling movements (e.g., lack of coordination), restless legs syndrome, poor sleep quality
  • Enlarged pupils, vision problems
  • Vertigo, ear pain
  • Fast and/or irregular heartbeat
  • Fainting, dizziness, weakness or light-headedness when standing up, cold fingers and/or toes
  • Throat tightness, nosebleeds
  • Vomiting blood, black tarry stools, bowel inflammation, burping, difficulty swallowing
  • Liver inflammation (hepatitis), stomach pain, yellow skin or eyes
  • Night sweats, hives, cold sweats, sensitivity to sunlight, increased bruising
  • Muscle stiffness, muscle twitching
  • Difficulty urinating, inability to urinate, difficulty starting urination, frequent nighttime urination, increased need to urinate, weak urine stream
  • Abnormal vaginal bleeding, abnormal menstruation (heavy, painful, irregular, prolonged, unusually light or absent), testicular pain
  • Chest pain, feeling cold, thirst, muscle tremor, feeling hot, abnormal gait
  • Weight gain
  • Severe allergic reaction (difficulty breathing, dizziness, swelling of tongue or lips)
  • Reduced thyroid function (fatigue, weight gain)
  • Dehydration, low sodium levels in blood (dizziness, weakness, confusion, drowsiness, nausea/vomiting, fainting, seizures), Syndrome of Inappropriate Antidiuretic Hormone Secretion (SIADH)
  • Suicidal behavior, mania (overactivity, racing thoughts, reduced need for sleep), aggression, anger, hallucinations
  • Serotonin syndrome (euphoria, drowsiness, clumsiness, restlessness, feeling intoxicated, fever, sweating, stiff muscles), seizures
  • Increased eye pressure (glaucoma)
  • Cough, wheezing, shortness of breath with high fever
  • Mouth inflammation, bright red blood in stool, bad breath, colon inflammation (causing diarrhea)
  • Liver failure, yellow skin or eyes (jaundice)
  • Stevens-Johnson syndrome (severe skin condition with blisters on skin, mouth, eyes, genitals), severe allergic reactions with swelling of face and throat (angioedema)
  • Jaw muscle spasm (lockjaw)
  • Unusual urine odor
  • Menopausal symptoms, abnormal breast milk production in men and women
  • Severe vaginal bleeding shortly after childbirth
  • Inflammation of blood vessels in skin (cutaneous vasculitis)
  • Symptoms of stress cardiomyopathy (chest pain, shortness of breath, dizziness, fainting, irregular heartbeat)

Important Warnings

  • Do not take Duloxetin Stada if you are allergic to duloxetine or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not use if you have liver disease or severe kidney disease.
  • Do not take Duloxetin Stada if you are taking or have taken a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) in the last 14 days.
  • Do not take other medicines containing duloxetine at the same time.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have high blood pressure or heart disease.

  • Talk to your doctor if you have had epileptic seizures, mania, bipolar disorder, or eye problems like glaucoma.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have bleeding problems, a risk of low sodium levels (e.g., if you are elderly and taking diuretics), or if you are taking other medicines that can cause liver damage.
  • Duloxetin Stada can cause feelings of restlessness and difficulty sitting or standing still. If you feel restless or have suicidal thoughts, contact your doctor immediately.
  • Contact your doctor if you develop symptoms such as restlessness, hallucinations, loss of coordination, fast heartbeat, fever, sweating, muscle stiffness, nausea, or vomiting, as you may be suffering from serotonin syndrome.
