Ducressa eye drops contain an antibiotic to fight infections and a corticosteroid to reduce inflammation, used after cataract surgery in adults.

How to Use

Dosage

Apply one drop to the affected eye every 6 hours.

Method

Apply the drops carefully into your eye as directed by your doctor.

Important

Do not use more than 4 drops per day.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • High eye pressure
  • Eye discomfort, stinging, irritation, burning, or itching
  • Blurred or reduced vision
  • Discharge from the eye
RARE
  • Slower healing of the clear front part of the eye (cornea)
  • Eye infections
  • Abnormal sensation in the eye
  • Increased tear production
  • Dry and tired eyes
  • Eye pain
  • Clearer vision
  • Swelling or redness of the conjunctiva (the membrane covering the eye surface, also called red eyes)
  • Swelling or redness of the eyelid
  • Sensitivity to light
  • Sticky eyelids
  • Headache
  • Changes in taste
  • Itching (body)
  • Stuffy or runny nose
  • Allergic skin reactions, such as rash
  • Dilated pupil
  • Drooping eyelids
  • Calcium deposits on the surface of the eye
  • Tearing and gritty sensation in the eye
  • Changes in the thickness of the eye surface
  • Ulcer on the eye surface
  • Small holes on the eye surface (corneal perforation)
  • Swelling of the eye surface (corneal edema)
  • Eye inflammation causing pain and redness (uveitis)
  • Swollen face
  • Reduced adrenal gland function (may cause low blood sugar, dehydration, weight loss, confusion)
  • Hormonal problems (e.g., increased hair growth, muscle weakness, purple stretch marks, high blood pressure, irregular periods, Cushing's syndrome symptoms)

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to levofloxacin, dexamethasone, other quinolone antibiotics, other corticosteroids, or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not use if you have an untreated eye infection, including viral infections (like herpes), fungal infections, or tuberculosis of the eye.
  • Do not wear contact lenses during treatment with Ducressa, especially after cataract surgery.
  • Do not use this medicine if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • Tell your doctor if you have high eye pressure (glaucoma) or if you've had it after using steroid eye drops before.

  • Do not drive or operate machinery if your vision becomes temporarily blurred after using these drops, until your vision is clear again.
  • Stop using this medicine and contact a doctor immediately if you experience severe allergic reactions like swelling of the throat, difficulty breathing, or rash.
  • Stop using this medicine if you feel pain or swelling in your tendons (tendinitis).
