Duact

Duact capsules treat allergic rhinitis using two active ingredients: acrivastine, a fast-acting antihistamine, and pseudoephedrine, which reduces swelling in the mucous membranes.

How to Use

Dosage

For adults and children over 12 years, take 1 capsule as needed.

Method

The capsules should be taken by mouth.

Important

Do not take more than 3 capsules per day. The treatment duration is recommended to be limited to about 10 days.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Drowsiness.
  • Dry mouth.
  • Nausea.
  • Vomiting.
  • Dizziness.
  • Nervousness.
  • Sleep disturbances, including insomnia.
RARE
  • Hypersensitivity reactions, such as rash and severe allergic reactions (anaphylaxis).
  • Agitation.
  • Restlessness.
  • Hallucinations.
  • Sudden rash with red, swollen areas and small blisters.
  • Allergic skin inflammation.
  • Skin rash.
  • Difficulty urinating, urinary retention.
  • Fast heart rate.
  • Palpitations.
  • Increased blood pressure.
  • Severe conditions affecting brain blood vessels, such as PRES and RCVS.
  • Anxiety.
  • Headache.
  • Tremor.
  • Colon inflammation due to insufficient blood supply (ischemic colitis).
  • Reduced blood flow to the optic nerve (ischemic optic neuropathy).

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to acrivastine, pseudoephedrine, triprolidine, or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not use if you have severe coronary artery disease, severe high blood pressure, overactive thyroid, severe heart rhythm problems, inability to urinate, or high eye pressure.
  • Do not use if you have moderate to severe acute or chronic kidney disease or kidney failure.
  • Do not use if you have had a stroke or have risk factors that could increase the risk of a bleeding stroke.
  • Do not use if you are taking or have taken MAO inhibitors within the last two weeks.

  • Do not use if you are already taking other medicines to relieve nasal congestion, either by mouth or nose.
  • Do not use if you have very high blood pressure (severe hypertension) or blood pressure that is not controlled by medication.
  • Stop using Duact capsules immediately and seek medical attention if you experience sudden severe headache, nausea, vomiting, vision disturbances, confusion, seizures, or sensory changes. These could be signs of serious blood vessel problems in the brain (PRES/RCVS).
  • If you experience sudden stomach pain or rectal bleeding (due to colon inflammation), stop using Duact capsules and contact a doctor immediately.
  • If your vision suddenly worsens, stop using Duact capsules and contact a doctor immediately.
  • Duact capsules contain pseudoephedrine, which can cause a positive result in a doping test.
  • If you are going for an allergy test, stop using Duact capsules 2 days before the test.
  • Not for children under 12 years of age.
  • Avoid heavy alcohol consumption while on this medication.
  • If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist before using Duact capsules.
  • This medicine may affect your ability to drive or operate machinery.
