How to Use

Dosage

Typically, take 200 mg (two 100 mg tablets) on the first day, then 100-200 mg daily depending on your infection. Your doctor will tell you the exact dose.

Method

Take with food and plenty of water, sitting upright. Do not lie down immediately after taking to avoid irritation to your food pipe.

Important

The maximum daily dose for adults is generally 200 mg, but your doctor may prescribe higher doses in specific severe cases.

  • Fungal infections, such as in the mouth or vagina
  • Headache
  • Increased sensitivity to sunlight, causing skin rash or redness
  • Severe allergic reactions, including swelling of the face, difficulty breathing, or severe skin rashes
  • Increased pressure in the brain, which can cause headache or vision changes like blurred or double vision
  • Irritation or ulcers in the esophagus (food pipe)
  • Tooth discoloration in children under 8 years old
  • Low blood sugar (hypoglycemia)
  • Changes in blood cell counts
  • Ring in the ears
  • Joint and muscle pain

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to doxycycline, other similar antibiotics (tetracyclines), or any other ingredients.
  • Do not take this medicine if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • Avoid strong sunlight and tanning beds during treatment, as this medicine can make your skin very sensitive to the sun.
  • Contact your doctor immediately if you experience severe diarrhea during treatment.
  • Do not give this medicine to children under 8 years old unless your doctor specifically advises it, as it can permanently stain developing teeth.
