How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will determine your dose based on your weight, general health, and body surface area.

Method

The medicine is given as an infusion into a vein (drip) in a hospital and takes about one hour.

Important

You usually receive an infusion once every three weeks.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Infections, reduced red or white blood cells, or platelets
  • Fever
  • Allergic reactions (facial flushing, skin rash, itching, chest tightness, breathing difficulties, chills, back pain, low blood pressure)
  • Loss of appetite
  • Insomnia (difficulty sleeping)
  • Numbness, tingling, or joint or muscle pain
  • Headache
  • Changes in taste
  • Eye inflammation or increased tear production
  • Swelling due to fluid buildup (lymphatic dysfunction)
  • Shortness of breath
  • Runny nose, inflamed throat and nose, cough
  • Nosebleed
  • Mouth sores
  • Stomach problems (nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and constipation)
  • Stomach pain
  • Digestive problems
  • Hair loss (usually temporary)
  • Redness and swelling of palms and soles, skin peeling
  • Nail changes or loss
  • Muscle aches, back or bone pain
  • Menstrual cycle changes or absence
  • Swelling of hands, feet, or legs
  • Fatigue or flu-like symptoms
  • Weight gain or loss
  • Upper respiratory infection
  • Oral thrush (yeast infection in the mouth)
  • Dehydration
  • Dizziness
  • Hearing loss
  • Low blood pressure, irregular or fast heartbeat
  • Heart failure
  • Esophagitis (inflammation of the esophagus)
  • Dry mouth
  • Difficulty or pain when swallowing
  • Bleeding
  • Increased liver enzyme values (requires regular blood tests)
  • Increased blood sugar levels (diabetes)
  • Decreased blood potassium, calcium, and/or phosphate levels
RARE
  • Fainting
  • Injection site reactions, skin reactions, vein inflammation or swelling
  • Blood clots
  • Acute myeloid leukemia and myelodysplastic syndrome (types of blood cancer)
  • Colon or small intestine inflammation, which can be fatal; bowel perforation
  • Interstitial lung disease (lung inflammation causing cough and shortness of breath)
  • Pneumonia (lung infection)
  • Lung fibrosis (scarring and thickening of lung tissue causing shortness of breath)
  • Blurred vision due to retinal swelling (cystoid macular edema)
  • Decreased blood sodium, potassium, magnesium, and/or calcium levels (electrolyte imbalance)
  • Ventricular arrhythmia or tachycardia (irregular/fast heartbeat, severe shortness of breath, dizziness, or fainting)
  • Injection site reactions at previous reaction sites
  • Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma and other cancers (immune system affecting cancer)
  • Stevens-Johnson Syndrome (SJS) and Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis (TEN) (blistering, peeling, bleeding, rash, flu-like symptoms)
  • Acute Generalized Exanthematous Pustulosis (AGEP) (red, peeling, widespread rash with pustules, swollen skin, blisters, fever)
  • Tumor lysis syndrome (changes in blood values, seizures, kidney failure, heart rhythm disorders)
  • Myositis (muscle inflammation – muscle pain and weakness, warmth, redness, and swelling)

Important Warnings

  • Do not use Docetaxel Ebewe if you are allergic to docetaxel or any other ingredient in this medicine, have too few white blood cells, or severe liver disease.
  • Blood tests will be taken before each treatment to ensure your blood cell count and liver function are good.
  • Tell your doctor immediately if you have stomach pain, diarrhea, bleeding from the rectum, blood in your stool, or fever, as these can be signs of severe bowel damage.
  • Report any vision problems, such as blurred vision, to your doctor so your eyes can be checked immediately.
  • Tell your doctor if you have had an allergic reaction to paclitaxel treatment in the past or if you have heart problems.

  • Report immediately if you develop sudden or worsening lung problems, such as fever, shortness of breath, or cough.
  • If you experience severe skin reactions such as blistering, peeling, bleeding, or a widespread rash, contact your doctor immediately.
  • Docetaxel Ebewe contains alcohol, so discuss with your doctor if you have alcohol dependence, epilepsy, or impaired liver function.
  • Do not become pregnant during treatment or for 2 months after treatment. Use effective contraception. Men should not father a child during treatment or for 4 months after treatment and should consider sperm preservation.
  • Do not drive or operate machinery if this medicine affects your ability to do so, for example, if you experience side effects.
