How to Use

Dosage

The usual dose is 0.5 g, 1 g, or 1.5 g of gel once a day, preferably at the same time each day.

Method

Apply the gel to your lower abdomen, buttocks, or thighs. Ensure the skin is clean and dry. Wash your hands before and after applying. Let the gel dry for a couple of minutes, then cover the area with clothing. Do not apply to breasts, face, irritated skin, or the vagina.

Important

The maximum daily dose is 1.5 g of gel, once per day.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Breast tenderness, pain, or tightness.
  • Headache, dizziness.
  • Swelling, weight gain or loss.
  • Irregular vaginal bleeding, discharge, or spotting.
  • Symptoms affecting external genitals and vagina.
  • Nausea, vomiting, stomach cramps, gas.
  • Skin irritation, itching, or pain at the gel application site, increased sweating.
  • Depression, nervousness, sleepiness.
  • Hot flashes.
RARE
  • Migraine, sensory disturbances.
  • Mood, emotional, and sexual drive changes, anxiety, insomnia.
  • Benign tumor in the breast or uterine lining.
  • Breast enlargement.
  • Increased appetite.
  • Palpitations.
  • Constipation.
  • Acne, hair loss, dry skin.
  • Joint pain, muscle cramps.
  • Increased urination frequency.
  • Fatigue.
  • Hypersensitivity reactions.
  • Impaired vision.
  • Hives (itchy rash), erythema nodosum (red skin nodules), general rash.
  • Blood clots in veins (venous thrombosis).
  • Increased blood pressure.
  • Liver and gallbladder function changes.
  • Poor contact lens tolerance.
  • Painful menstruation.
  • PMS-like symptoms.

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you have or have had breast cancer or any other estrogen-dependent cancer.
  • Do not use if you have unexplained vaginal bleeding.
  • Do not use if you have had a blood clot or are at high risk of getting one (e.g., in the leg or lung).
  • Do not use if you have had a heart attack, stroke, or angina.
  • Do not use if you have liver disease with abnormal test results.

  • Do not use if you are allergic to Divigel or its ingredients.
  • Stop using and contact a doctor immediately if your skin or eyes turn yellow, you experience swelling of the face or throat, chest pain, difficulty breathing, a new migraine, signs of a blood clot (like leg swelling), or if you become pregnant.
  • Prevent children from touching the skin area where the gel has been applied. If a child is exposed, wash their skin with soap and water. Contact a doctor if a child shows unexpected signs of puberty.
