How to Use

Dosage

The usual dose is 0.5g, 1g, or 1.5g of gel once a day, preferably at the same time each day.

Method

Apply the gel to clean, dry skin on your lower stomach, buttocks, or thighs. Spread it lightly over an area about the size of two hands. Let it dry for a couple of minutes before dressing. Do not wash the area for at least an hour. Do not apply to breasts, face, irritated skin, or vagina. Wash hands thoroughly after applying.

Important

The maximum daily dose is 1.5g of gel.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Breast tenderness, pain or swelling
  • Headache, dizziness
  • Swelling, weight gain or loss
  • Abnormal vaginal bleeding, discharge, or spotting
  • Symptoms in the external genitals or vagina
  • Nausea, vomiting, stomach cramps, flatulence
  • Skin irritation, itching or pain at the application site, increased sweating
  • Depression, nervousness, sleepiness
  • Hot flashes
RARE
  • Migraine, sensory disturbances (tingling or numbness)
  • Mood changes, anxiety, insomnia, difficulty concentrating
  • Benign growths in the breast or uterine lining
  • Breast enlargement, overgrowth of the uterine lining
  • Increased appetite
  • Palpitations (fast or irregular heartbeat)
  • Constipation
  • Acne, hair loss, dry skin
  • Joint pain, muscle cramps
  • Increased urge to urinate
  • Fatigue
  • Allergic reactions
  • Blurred vision
  • Hives (itchy rash)
  • Erythema nodosum (painful red lumps under the skin)
  • Blood clots in veins (venous thrombosis)
  • Increased blood pressure
  • Changes in liver or gallbladder function

  • PMS-like symptoms

Important Warnings

  • Do not use Divigel if you have or have had breast cancer or any other cancer that depends on estrogen.
  • Do not use if you have unexplained vaginal bleeding.
  • Do not use if you have or have had a blood clot in a vein (e.g., in your leg or lungs).
  • Do not use if you have a condition that increases your risk of developing blood clots.
  • Stop using Divigel and contact your doctor immediately if your skin or eyes turn yellow, you get severe headaches (like a migraine for the first time), or you become pregnant.
