How to Use

Dosage

The recommended dose is 0.5 ml for adults, adolescents, and children aged 4 years and older.

Method

A doctor or nurse will usually give you the vaccine as an injection into a muscle, but it can also be given under the skin if you have a risk of bleeding.

Important

This is a single dose vaccine; there is no maximum daily dose.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Pain, itching, redness, or swelling at the injection site.
  • Headache.
  • Fatigue.
  • General discomfort, irritability, or fever (at least 38°C).
  • Redness and swelling of at least 5 cm at the injection site.
  • Muscle pain.
RARE
  • Severe allergic reactions (rash, difficulty breathing, fainting), which can be life-threatening.
  • High fever (over 40°C).
  • Persistent itchy lumps (granuloma) or sterile abscess at the injection site.
  • Hives.

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this vaccine if you are allergic to the active substances, any other ingredients, or to formaldehyde, which may be present in small amounts in the vaccine.
  • Do not take this vaccine if you have a progressive neurological disease.
  • Do not take this vaccine if you have a high fever; vaccination should be postponed.
  • Do not take this vaccine if you have had severe nervous system issues (encephalopathy) within 7 days after a previous whooping cough vaccination.
  • Tell your doctor or nurse if your immune system is weak or if you are taking medicines that affect your immune system.

  • Tell your doctor or nurse if you have a bleeding disorder or are on medication that increases bleeding risk.
  • Tell your doctor or nurse if you have previously experienced any of these after a whooping cough vaccination: fever over 40°C within 48 hours (with no other known cause), collapse or shock-like state within 48 hours (in children), continuous crying for over 3 hours within 48 hours (in children), or convulsions within 3 days (in children).
