How to Use

Dosage

For pain and fever, take 500 to 1000 mg, up to 2-3 times a day.

Method

Take tablets with plenty of water, preferably with a meal.

Important

Do not take more than 3000 mg in one day for pain and fever.

Possible Side Effects

RARE
  • Inflammation and sores in the digestive system
  • Life-threatening bleeding in the stomach or intestines
  • Low number of blood clotting cells (platelets)
  • Red blood cell breakdown in people with severe G6PD deficiency
  • Bleeding or holes (perforation) in the stomach or intestines
  • Lowered blood sugar
  • Higher liver test results in blood
  • Kidney problems and sudden kidney failure
  • Severe allergic reactions or serious skin reactions
  • Stomach and bowel problems like indigestion, pain, feeling sick, diarrhea, and throwing up
  • Narrowing of the intestines (especially with long-term use)
  • More swelling if you have heart failure
  • Allergic signs like rash, runny nose, or breathing problems that get worse with aspirin

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to aspirin or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not take if you have had an asthma attack from aspirin or similar pain medicines.
  • Do not take if you have or have had stomach ulcers.
  • Do not take if you bleed easily.
  • Do not take if you have severe kidney, liver, or heart problems.

  • Do not take if you are using 15 mg or more of methotrexate each week.
  • Do not use doses over 100 mg per day during the last three months of pregnancy.
  • Not for children or teenagers with viral infections (like flu or chickenpox) due to a serious risk called Reye's syndrome.
  • Alcohol can increase the risk of stomach bleeding when taken with this medicine.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category D

Avoid use in older adults. Not suitable for use as analgesic or antipyretic medication. Increases swelling, worsens renal and heart failure and causes cardiovascular events. Increases risk of bleeding, especially in the gastrointestinal tract. Consider potential interactions especially with preparations that increase risk of bleeding. Consider acetylsalicylic acid in OTC drugs and combination products. (updated 24.3.2025)
