How to Use

Dosage

One tablet daily.

Method

Take one tablet with a glass of water, usually in the morning, with or without food.

Important

Do not take more than one tablet per day.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Cough
  • Low blood pressure
  • Dizziness or feeling lightheaded
  • Dehydration (signs include thirst, dry mouth, less frequent urination, dark urine, dry skin)
  • Muscle pain
  • Feeling tired
  • Tingling or numbness
  • Blurred vision
  • Ringing or buzzing in the ears
RARE
  • Diarrhea
  • Joint pain
  • Severe breathing difficulties (signs like strong shortness of breath, fever, weakness, confusion)
  • Greatly reduced urine output (may indicate kidney problems)
  • Low sodium levels in blood (may cause tiredness, confusion, muscle twitching, or cramps)
  • Low potassium levels in blood (may cause muscle weakness, cramps, or abnormal heart rhythm)
  • Low white blood cell count (signs like fever, infections, sore throat, mouth sores, weakness)
  • High bilirubin levels in blood (can cause yellow skin and eyes)
  • Fainting
  • Skin blisters (signs of skin inflammation)
  • Inflammation of blood vessels (signs like rash, red-purple spots, fever)

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to valsartan, hydrochlorothiazide, sulfonamide medicines, or any other ingredients.
  • Do not use Diovan Comp from the fourth month of pregnancy onwards, as it can harm your baby. Talk to your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to be.
  • Do not take if you have severe liver or kidney disease, cannot urinate, or are on dialysis.
  • Get immediate medical help if you experience swelling of your face, tongue, or throat, difficulty swallowing, hives, or trouble breathing.
  • Contact your doctor immediately if you notice vision loss or eye pain, as these can be signs of serious eye problems.

  • Seek urgent medical care if you develop a severe skin rash with redness, blisters on lips/eyes/mouth, peeling skin, or fever.
  • Do not use if you have diabetes or kidney problems and are taking aliskiren (another blood pressure medicine).

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Effectiveness is reduced in renal impairment. Consider risk of orthostatic hypotension and hyponatraemia and -kalemia. (updated 19.5.2025)
