How to Use

Dosage

Start with 120 mg twice daily for 7 days, then take 240 mg twice daily.

Method

Swallow capsules whole with water, do not crush or chew. Take with food to help reduce side effects.

Important

The maximum dose per day is 480 mg.

  • Redness, warmth, burning, or itching of the face or body
  • Diarrhea

  • Stomach lining inflammation (gastritis)

  • Reddish patches on the skin

RARE
  • Allergic reactions
  • Decreased platelet count
  • Liver inflammation and elevated liver enzyme levels
  • Shingles (symptoms include blisters, burning, itching, pain, fever, and weakness)
  • Severe watery runny nose
  • Swelling of face, lips, mouth, or tongue
  • Wheezing, difficulty breathing, or shortness of breath
  • Dizziness or loss of consciousness

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to dimethyl fumarate or any other ingredient.
  • Do not take if you have a rare and serious brain infection called PML, or if it is suspected.
  • This medicine can affect your white blood cells, kidneys, and liver; your doctor will do blood tests to check them regularly.
  • Talk to your doctor before taking this medicine if you have severe kidney or liver disease, stomach or bowel problems, or a serious infection.
  • Tell your doctor right away if you suspect you have shingles (like blisters or pain).

  • Contact your doctor immediately if your MS symptoms worsen or you get new symptoms, as these could be signs of a serious brain infection.
  • Contact your doctor if you pee a lot, are thirsty, have weak muscles, or bone pain, as these could be symptoms of a kidney disease.
  • Talk to your doctor before use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • Avoid strong alcoholic drinks for one hour after taking this medicine, to prevent stomach inflammation.
