How to Use

Dosage

One tablet once a day.

Method

Take one tablet daily, preferably at the same time, with enough water. Continue taking the tablets even during menstrual bleeding.

Important

One tablet per day is the recommended dose and should not be exceeded.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Weight gain
  • Depressed mood, trouble sleeping, nervousness, decreased sex drive, or mood changes
  • Headache or migraine
  • Nausea, stomach pain, gas, bloated stomach, or vomiting
  • Acne or hair loss
  • Back pain
  • Breast tenderness, ovarian cysts, or hot flashes
  • Uterine/vaginal bleeding, including spotting
  • Weakness or irritability
RARE
  • Anemia
  • Weight loss or increased appetite
  • Anxiety, depression, or mood swings
  • Imbalance of the autonomic nervous system (e.g., sweating) or concentration difficulties
  • Dry eyes
  • Ringing in the ears
  • Nonspecific circulatory disorders or unusual heart palpitations
  • Low blood pressure
  • Shortness of breath
  • Diarrhea, constipation, abdominal discomfort, gastrointestinal inflammation, or gum inflammation
  • Dry skin, excessive sweating, severe itching all over the body, male-pattern hair growth (hirsutism), brittle nails, dandruff, dermatitis, abnormal hair growth, light sensitivity, or skin pigmentation problems
  • Bone pain, muscle cramps, pain and/or heavy feeling in arms and hands or legs and feet
  • Urinary tract infection
  • Vaginal yeast infection, vaginal dryness, vaginal discharge, pelvic pain, atrophic inflammation of the genitals with discharge (atrophic vulvovaginitis), or breast lumps
  • Swelling due to fluid retention
  • Reduced bone density

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you have a blood clot in your veins (like deep vein thrombosis or pulmonary embolism).
  • Do not use if you have or have had a serious artery disease, such as a heart attack, stroke, or chest pain due to heart issues.
  • Do not use if you have diabetes with blood vessel damage.
  • Do not use if you have or have had severe liver disease and your liver function values are not back to normal.
  • Do not use if you have or have had a benign or malignant liver tumor.

  • Do not use if you have or are suspected of having a malignant hormone-dependent tumor, such as breast cancer or cancer of the reproductive organs.
  • Do not use if you have unexplained vaginal bleeding.
  • Do not use if you are allergic to dienogest or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not use hormonal birth control (pills, patches, IUDs) while taking this medicine. Dienogest Stragen is not a contraceptive.
  • If you become pregnant while using Dienogest Stragen, there is a slightly increased risk of ectopic pregnancy. Tell your doctor if you have had an ectopic pregnancy before.
  • Talk to your doctor if you experience heavy or prolonged uterine bleeding, as this may lead to anemia.
  • Stop taking this medicine and contact your doctor immediately if you notice symptoms of a blood clot (e.g., severe leg pain, sudden chest pain, sudden shortness of breath, unexplained cough, severe headache, vision problems, speech difficulties, dizziness, weakness, numbness).
  • Do not drink grapefruit juice while using Dienogest Stragen, as it can increase the medicine's levels in your blood and lead to more side effects.
