How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will prescribe the right dose for you, which may vary depending on your condition.

Method

You can take Diapam tablets with or without food. The tablet can be divided into two equal halves.

Important

Your doctor will determine the maximum daily dose, but treatment should be as short as possible to prevent dependence.

Possible Side Effects

Important Warnings

  • Do not take Diapam if you are allergic to diazepam or other similar medicines (benzodiazepines).
  • Do not take Diapam if you have muscle weakness (myasthenia gravis), severe breathing problems, or sleep apnea.
  • Do not take Diapam if you have severe liver problems.
  • Do not drink alcohol while taking this medicine, as it can increase Diapam's effects and cause serious side effects.
  • This medicine can make you drowsy or affect your coordination. Do not drive or operate machinery.

  • Diapam is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Discuss with your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to be, or breastfeeding.
  • Do not stop taking Diapam suddenly. Your doctor will advise you on how to gradually reduce the dose to avoid withdrawal symptoms.
  • Long-term use can lead to dependence. Follow your doctor's instructions for the shortest possible treatment period.
  • Seek immediate medical help if you experience unusual mental reactions like restlessness, aggression, hallucinations, or nightmares.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category D

Avoid use in older adults. Sedative. A long-acting. Increases the risk of drug addiction, cognitive disorder and traffic accidents. Increases risk of falls. Paradoxically, may increase anxiety, restlessness and aggression. Avoid grapefruit. (updated 15.1.2024)
