How to Use

Dosage

The usual recommended dose is between 5 mg and 20 mg. Your doctor will start with a small dose and increase it gradually each week if needed.

Method

Take the tablets by mouth with water, preferably with or right after a meal. Always take them at the same time each day in relation to your meals. Do not take the last dose too late in the afternoon to avoid sleep problems. Tablets have a score line and can be divided into equal doses; you can break them into four parts.

Important

The maximum daily dose is 20 mg. In rare cases, a dose of 40 mg per day might be needed.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Decreased appetite, slowed growth, and weight loss in children with long-term use.
  • Sleep problems.
  • Nervousness.
  • Stomach pain or cramps, nausea, vomiting, and dry mouth. These often occur at the start of treatment and can be reduced by taking the medicine with food.
  • Changes in blood pressure (usually an increase).
  • Joint pain.
  • Dizziness or feeling light-headed, twitching or involuntary movements, headache, hyperactivity, abnormal behavior, aggression, agitation, lack of appetite, anxiety, depression, and irritability.
RARE
  • Difficulty focusing, blurred vision, and dilated pupils.
  • Fatigue.
  • Rash, hives.
  • Reduced red blood cell count (which can cause paleness, weakness, or shortness of breath), and changes in other blood cell counts (like low white blood cells or platelets).
  • Tourette's syndrome, or worsening of existing tics.
  • Abnormal liver function, from elevated liver enzyme levels to liver coma.
  • Muscle cramps, involuntary movements (choreoathetotic movements), and bleeding inside the skull.
  • Recurrent skin rash appearing in the same spot each time the medicine is taken.
  • Inflammation of parts of the large intestine due to reduced blood flow (ischemic colitis).
  • Body acid-base balance disorder (acidosis).
  • Movement control difficulties (ataxia), dizziness, hyperreflexia (excessive reflexes), and tremors.
  • Abnormal or impaired sense of taste, and difficulty concentrating.
  • Confusion, dysphoria (unease), emotional lability, euphoria (elation), impaired cognitive function (rational thinking), altered libido (sexual drive), nightmares, and restlessness.
  • Kidney damage.
  • Impotence.
  • Sweating, hair loss.
  • Diarrhea.
  • Circulatory failure.
  • Numbness, tingling, and color changes (from white to blue, then red) in fingers and toes when cold (Raynaud's phenomenon).

Important Warnings

  • Do not use this medicine if you or your child are allergic to dexamfetamine sulfate or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not use if you or your child have thyroid problems, high eye pressure (glaucoma), or a tumor on the adrenal gland (phaeochromocytoma).
  • Do not use if you or your child have an eating disorder, don't feel hungry, or don't want to eat (e.g., anorexia nervosa).
  • Do not use if you or your child have very high blood pressure, narrowed blood vessels, advanced hardening of the arteries, or have had heart problems (like a heart attack, irregular heartbeat, heart failure, or a congenital heart defect).
  • Do not use if you or your child have had brain blood vessel problems (like a stroke, aneurysm, or vasculitis).

  • Do not use if you or your child have mental health problems like psychopathic or unstable personality, unusual thoughts or hallucinations, schizophrenia, or severe mood disorders (like suicidal thoughts, severe depression, mania, or bipolar disorder).
  • Do not use if you or your child are taking or have taken antidepressants called MAO inhibitors in the last 14 days.
  • Do not use if you or your child have misused alcohol, prescription drugs, or illegal drugs.
  • Do not use if you or your child have Tourette's syndrome or other motor or vocal tics, or severe, repeated twitching or vocalizations of any body part.
  • Do not use if your child has porphyria.
  • Stop taking Dexamfetamin Sea Pharma and contact your doctor immediately if you experience irregular or fast heartbeat, or a strong pounding heart.
  • Stop taking Dexamfetamin Sea Pharma and contact your doctor immediately if you experience chest pain (Angina pectoris).
  • Stop taking Dexamfetamin Sea Pharma and contact your doctor immediately if you experience hallucinations, psychosis (severe mental changes), or suicidal behavior/thoughts.
  • Stop taking Dexamfetamin Sea Pharma and contact your doctor immediately if you experience itchy red patches on the skin (erythema multiforme) or peeling skin (exfoliative dermatitis).
  • Stop taking Dexamfetamin Sea Pharma and contact your doctor immediately if you experience inflammation and/or blockage in blood vessels of the spinal cord and brain (cerebral vasculitis).
  • Stop taking Dexamfetamin Sea Pharma and contact your doctor immediately if you experience shortness of breath or swollen legs (signs of heart muscle disease), or a heart attack.
  • Stop taking Dexamfetamin Sea Pharma and contact your doctor immediately if you experience significantly increased body temperature.
  • Stop taking Dexamfetamin Sea Pharma and contact your doctor immediately if you experience allergic reactions, including severe allergic reactions that cause swelling in the face or throat (angioedema), and severe allergic reactions causing breathing difficulties or dizziness (anaphylaxis).
  • Stop taking Dexamfetamin Sea Pharma and contact your doctor immediately if you experience abnormal muscle breakdown (rhabdomyolysis) with symptoms like unexplained muscle pain, cramps, or weakness.
  • Stop taking Dexamfetamin Sea Pharma and contact your doctor immediately if you experience a stroke.
  • Stop taking Dexamfetamin Sea Pharma and contact your doctor immediately if you experience dependence, compulsive behavior, panic attacks, or paranoia.
  • Stop taking Dexamfetamin Sea Pharma and contact your doctor immediately if you experience sudden death.
