How to Use

Dosage

The usual dose is one 4 mg capsule once a day, but your doctor may reduce it to a 2 mg capsule if you have kidney or liver problems or experience side effects.

Method

Swallow the capsule whole with water, do not chew it.

Important

The maximum daily dose is usually one 4 mg capsule.

Important Warnings

  • Seek immediate medical attention if you experience severe allergic reactions, such as swelling of the face, tongue, or throat, difficulty swallowing, or trouble breathing.
  • Tell your doctor immediately if you experience chest pain, breathing difficulties, unusual tiredness (even at rest), or swollen legs, as these could be signs of heart problems.
  • Talk to your doctor before taking this medicine if you have trouble urinating, kidney or liver disease, severe bowel problems, or if you have a heart condition or low potassium, calcium, or magnesium levels in your blood.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category D

Avoid use in older adults. Anticholinergic. Reduce the dose in moderately severe renal impairment. Significant adverse effects include tachycardia, confusion and cognitive impairment. Increases risk of falls. Reduces the effectiveness of drugs for Alzheimer’s disease. (updated 25.11.2024)
