How to Use

Dosage

Take one tablet daily.

Method

Swallow the tablet whole with water. Take your tablet at approximately the same time each day, ensuring a 24-hour interval between doses. You can take it with or without food.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Mood changes, depressed mood, decreased sexual desire
  • Headache
  • Nausea
  • Acne
  • Breast tenderness, irregular periods or no periods, weight gain
RARE
  • Vaginal infection
  • Difficulty wearing contact lenses
  • Vomiting
  • Hair loss
  • Painful periods, ovarian cysts
  • Tiredness
  • Rash, hives, painful reddish-purple skin lumps (erythema nodosum)
  • Breast fluid

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to desogestrel or any other ingredient in the medicine.
  • Do not use if you have or have had a blood clot in a blood vessel (e.g., in your leg or lung).
  • Do not use if you have or have had jaundice (yellow skin) or a severe liver disease, and your liver function has not returned to normal.
  • Do not use if you have or are suspected of having a cancer that is affected by sex hormones (e.g., certain types of breast cancer).
  • Do not use if you have unexplained vaginal bleeding.

  • This medicine does not protect against HIV infection (AIDS) or other sexually transmitted diseases.
  • Contact your doctor immediately if you experience severe pain or swelling in one of your legs, unexplained chest pain, shortness of breath, unusual cough, or if you cough up blood, as these could be signs of a blood clot.
  • Contact your doctor immediately if you experience sudden severe stomach pain or if your skin or eyes turn yellow, as these could be signs of liver problems.
  • Contact your doctor immediately if you find a lump in your breast, as this could be a sign of breast cancer.
  • Contact your doctor immediately if you experience sudden severe pain in your lower abdomen or other abdominal areas, as this could be a sign of an ectopic pregnancy.
  • Contact your doctor immediately if you need bed rest or surgery (ask your doctor for advice at least four weeks before planned surgery).
  • Contact your doctor immediately if your bleeding is abnormal and unusually heavy.
  • Contact your doctor immediately if you suspect you are pregnant.
  • Contact your doctor immediately if you experience an allergic reaction, including swelling of the face, lips, tongue, and/or throat, which may cause difficulty breathing or swallowing.
