How to Use

Dosage

For diabetes insipidus, the usual dose for adults and children is 1-2 tablets (60 microgram) under the tongue three times a day. For bedwetting in children, it's 1-2 tablets (120 microgram) under the tongue at night. For night urination in adults, it's 1 tablet (60 microgram) under the tongue at night.

Method

Place the tablet under your tongue, where it will dissolve without water. Always take it at the same time relative to meals.

Important

Your doctor will determine your exact dose. For bedwetting and night urination, restrict fluid intake from 1 hour before to 8 hours after taking the medicine.

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to desmopressin or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • It is important to restrict your fluid intake from 1 hour before taking the medicine until 8 hours after, especially for bedwetting or night urination.
  • Contact your doctor immediately if you experience headache, nausea, vomiting, weight gain, confusion, or seizures, as these can be signs of low blood sodium.
  • Do not take this medicine if you have severe kidney problems, very strong thirst (polydipsia), heart failure, or certain hormone disorders (SIADH).
  • Do not use for night urination if you are over 65 years old or for bedwetting if your child is under 5 years old.

  • Discuss with your doctor if you have coronary artery disease, high blood pressure, thyroid or adrenal gland diseases, or conditions causing fever, vomiting, or diarrhea.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category D

Avoid use in older adults. Risk of fluid retention and hyponatraemia. Treatment of ADH deficiency can be started under specialist supervision. (updated 6.11.2023)
