How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will tell you your exact dose. For example, adults with nocturia usually take 1 tablet (60 micrograms) under the tongue before bed.

Method

Place the tablet under your tongue. Let it dissolve there without water.

Important

Always follow your doctor's prescribed dose. Do not take more than instructed.

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to desmopressin or any other ingredients.
  • Do not take if you drink too much fluid (polydipsia), have heart failure, or other conditions needing fluid-reducing medicines.
  • Do not take if you have moderate to severe kidney problems.
  • Do not take if you have low sodium levels in your blood.
  • Do not take if you cannot follow fluid restriction rules.

  • Do not take if you have a hormone disorder called SIADH (Syndrome of Inappropriate Antidiuretic Hormone Secretion).
  • Do not take if you are 65 or older and have frequent urination at night, or if your child is under 5 years old and wets the bed.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have coronary artery disease or high blood pressure.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have thyroid or adrenal gland disease.
  • Talk to your doctor if you get a fever, vomiting, or diarrhea while taking this medicine.
  • Talk to your doctor if you get headaches, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, weight gain, confusion, or seizures, as these could be signs of dangerous low sodium levels.
  • Talk to your doctor if you are at risk of increased pressure in your head.
  • When treating bedwetting or frequent night urination, limit fluid intake to the minimum needed to quench thirst from 1 hour before to 8 hours after taking the medicine.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category D

Avoid use in older adults. Risk of fluid retention and hyponatraemia. Treatment of ADH deficiency can be started under specialist supervision. (updated 6.11.2023)
