How to Use

Dosage

The dose is individual and depends on your condition, typically 1-2 tablets (60 or 120 micrograms each) taken up to three times a day, or once at night for bedwetting or nocturia.

Method

Place the tablet under your tongue; it will dissolve without water.

Important

Your doctor will set your maximum daily dose; always limit fluid intake as instructed to avoid problems.

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if allergic to desmopressin or any other ingredient.
  • Do not take if you have a very strong urge to drink, heart failure, kidney problems, or very low sodium levels.
  • You must limit your fluid intake as instructed by your doctor, especially 1 hour before and 8 hours after taking the medicine for bedwetting or nocturia, to avoid serious side effects like low sodium.
  • Tell your doctor if you have heart disease, high blood pressure, thyroid or adrenal gland problems, or if you get a fever, vomiting, or diarrhea during treatment.
  • Seek immediate medical attention if you experience severe headache, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, weight gain, confusion, or seizures, as these could be signs of dangerously low sodium levels in your blood.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category D

Avoid use in older adults. Risk of fluid retention and hyponatraemia. Treatment of ADH deficiency can be started under specialist supervision. (updated 6.11.2023)
