How to Use

Dosage

For adults and children, typical doses range from 60 micrograms three times a day for diabetes insipidus, to 60–120 micrograms at bedtime for bedwetting or frequent nighttime urination.

Method

Place the tablet under your tongue where it will dissolve without water.

Important

The maximum daily single dose at bedtime is 240 micrograms.

Important Warnings

  • Drink very little fluid for 1 hour before and 8 hours after taking the tablet.
  • Drinking too much fluid can be dangerous. Watch for severe headache, feeling sick, throwing up, sudden weight gain, or in serious cases, seizures or fainting. If these happen, stop the medicine and get medical help right away.
  • Stop treatment and see a doctor immediately if you get a severe allergic reaction like skin rash, itching, fever, or swelling of the face, tongue, or throat, making it hard to swallow or breathe.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category D

Avoid use in older adults. Risk of fluid retention and hyponatraemia. Treatment of ADH deficiency can be started under specialist supervision. (updated 6.11.2023)
