How to Use

Dosage

Usually one 5 mg/24-hour patch per day; the dose can be increased to two 5 mg/24-hour patches or one 10 mg/24-hour patch daily.

Method

Apply the patch to clean, dry, hairless, and healthy skin on the front or side of the chest, upper arm, thigh, abdomen, or shoulder; change the application site daily and press the patch firmly onto the skin.

Important

Take an 8-12 hour break from using the patch daily; maximum two 5 mg/24-hour patches or one 10 mg/24-hour patch per day.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Headache
  • Nausea, vomiting
  • Confusion
  • Dizziness (including when standing up), drowsiness
  • Fast heartbeat
  • Drop in blood pressure when standing up (orthostatic hypotension)
  • Weakness
RARE
  • Increased symptoms of angina pectoris (chest pain)
  • Acute impaired circulation
  • Allergic skin reactions (e.g., widespread rash), allergic contact dermatitis
  • Itching, burning, redness, irritation at the patch application site

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to glyceryl trinitrate, other nitrate compounds, or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not use if you have sudden severe circulation problems (shock).
  • Do not use if you have certain severe heart problems, such as heart shock, specific heart muscle diseases (hypertrophic-obstructive cardiomyopathy), inflammation of the heart sac (constrictive pericarditis), or fluid in the heart sac (cardiac tamponade).
  • Do not use if you have a heart-lung disease caused by high pressure in the pulmonary circulation.
  • Do not use if you have very low blood pressure, severe anemia, or low blood volume (hypovolemia).

  • Do not use Deponit NT with erectile dysfunction medicines like sildenafil, vardenafil, or tadalafil, as this can cause a life-threatening drop in blood pressure.
  • Remove the patch before going to the sauna or undergoing diathermy treatment (local heating).
  • Tell your doctor if you have had a sudden heart attack with left ventricle failure, narrowed heart valves (aortic or mitral valve stenosis), a drop in blood pressure when standing up (orthostatic hypotension), increased pressure in the skull, or high eye pressure (glaucoma).
  • Do not stop treatment on your own; it must be done gradually under medical guidance.

Use in Elderly Patients
