How to Use

Dosage

For adults, the dose varies from 6 to 90 mg daily. For children, the starting dose is 0.25-1.5 mg per kg of body weight per day, and for Duchenne muscular dystrophy, it's about 0.9 mg per kg once daily.

Method

Take this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist tells you. The 30 mg tablet can be split if you have trouble swallowing it whole. For small children, the tablet can be crushed and mixed with applesauce or similar, then given right away.

Important

The maximum daily dose for adults is 90 mg.

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to deflazacort or any other ingredients.
  • Do not take if you currently have a stomach ulcer.
  • Do not take if you have a bacterial, viral (like herpes or chickenpox), or widespread fungal infection.
  • Do not take if you are about to get vaccinated or have recently been vaccinated.
  • Tell your doctor about any other health problems you have, such as heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, or mental health issues.

  • Your dose may need to be increased during stressful times like infections, injuries, or surgery.
  • Do not stop taking this medicine suddenly after long-term use; your doctor will tell you how to reduce the dose slowly.
  • Long-term use in children can affect their growth and development.
