How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will determine your exact dose, which is typically 100 mg or 140 mg once daily for adults, depending on your condition. For children, the dose depends on body weight.

Method

Take the tablets whole, with or without food, at the same time each day. Do not crush, split, or chew them.

Important

Your doctor will tell you the maximum daily dose you should take. Do not exceed the dose prescribed by your doctor.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Infections (like bacterial, viral, or fungal infections).
  • Feeling out of breath.
  • Diarrhea, feeling sick to your stomach, or vomiting.
  • Skin rash, fever, swelling in your face, hands, or feet, headache, feeling tired or weak, bleeding.
  • Muscle pain (during or after treatment), stomach pain.
  • Low blood cell counts (platelets, white blood cells, red blood cells), fluid around the lungs.
RARE
  • Lung infection (pneumonia), herpes virus infections (like CMV), upper respiratory infections, serious blood or tissue infections (can be deadly).
  • Fast or irregular heartbeat, heart failure, weak heart muscle, high blood pressure, high blood pressure in the lungs, cough, heart attack (can be deadly), inflammation around the heart, chest pain from poor blood flow, low blood pressure, narrow airways (causing breathing issues), asthma.
  • Changes in appetite, changes in taste, bloated stomach, colon inflammation, constipation, heartburn, mouth sores, weight changes, stomach inflammation, pancreas inflammation, stomach ulcers, inflammation of the food pipe, anal skin tear, difficulty swallowing, gallbladder inflammation, blocked bile ducts, acid reflux.
  • Skin tingling, itching, dry skin, acne, skin inflammation, ringing in ears, hair loss, sweating too much, blurry vision or vision changes, dry eyes, bleeding under the skin, feeling down, trouble sleeping, flushing, dizziness, bruises, loss of appetite, sleepiness, general swelling, allergic reactions (including tender, red skin lumps), anxiety, confusion, mood changes, lower sex drive, fainting, shaking, red or painful eye inflammation, skin conditions with red patches and fever, hearing loss, sensitive to light, worsening vision, more tears, skin color changes, inflammation under the skin, skin sores, skin blisters, nail problems, hair problems, hand-foot syndrome, kidney problems, frequent urination, breast enlargement in men, period problems, general weakness or discomfort, low thyroid function, balance problems, bone death (osteonecrosis), joint inflammation, skin swelling anywhere on body, seizures, inflammation of optic nerve (can cause vision loss), bluish skin patches, overactive thyroid, thyroid inflammation, problems with muscle coordination (ataxia), trouble walking, miscarriage, skin blood vessel inflammation, skin hardening, severe allergic reaction, slow bone growth.
  • Vein inflammation (can cause redness, tenderness, swelling), tendon inflammation, joint pain, muscle weakness, chest pain, pain in hands and feet, chills, muscle and joint stiffness, muscle cramps.
  • Memory loss, stroke, temporary brain problems from poor blood flow, facial paralysis, dementia.
  • Abnormal blood tests, possible kidney problems from tumor breakdown (tumor lysis syndrome), low albumin in blood, low white blood cell (lymphocyte) count in blood, high cholesterol, swollen lymph nodes, bleeding in the brain, irregular heart's electrical activity, enlarged heart, liver inflammation, protein in urine, high levels of creatine kinase (heart, brain, muscle enzyme), high levels of troponin (heart, muscle enzyme), high levels of gamma-glutamyl transferase (liver enzyme), milky fluid around the lungs.

Important Warnings

  • Do not take Dasatinib Viatris if you are allergic to dasatinib or any of its ingredients.
  • Tell your doctor if you have liver or heart disease.
  • Be careful if you are taking blood thinners or medicines to prevent blood clots.
  • Contact your doctor immediately if you experience breathing difficulties, chest pain, or a cough, as this could be a sign of fluid in your lungs.
  • Inform your doctor if you have ever had hepatitis B, as this medicine can reactivate it.

  • Contact your doctor if you notice unusual bruising, bleeding, fever, tiredness, or confusion, as these may be signs of blood vessel damage.
  • Do not take this medicine with certain other medicines like some antifungals (e.g., ketoconazole, itraconazole), antibiotics (e.g., erythromycin, clarithromycin), antivirals (e.g., ritonavir), epilepsy medicines (e.g., phenytoin), tuberculosis medicines (e.g., rifampicin), or stomach acid reducers (e.g., famotidine, omeprazole). Also, avoid St. John's Wort.
  • Avoid taking antacids (medicines that neutralize stomach acid) 2 hours before or 2 hours after taking Dasatinib Viatris.
  • Do not consume grapefruit or grapefruit juice while taking this medicine.
  • If you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding, tell your doctor immediately. Effective contraception is advised during treatment for both men and women. You must stop breastfeeding during treatment.
  • Be cautious when driving or operating machinery if you experience dizziness or blurred vision.
