How to Use

Dosage

For adults, the dose varies from 100 mg to 140 mg once daily depending on the type of illness. For children, the dose depends on body weight and is determined by the doctor.

Method

Take the tablets whole at the same time each day, with or without food. Do not crush, split, or chew them.

Important

Your doctor will determine your dose, but the highest recommended starting dose for adults is 140 mg once daily.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Infections (like bacterial, viral, and fungal)
  • Shortness of breath
  • Diarrhea, nausea, vomiting
  • Rash, fever, swelling in face, hands, and feet
  • Headache, tiredness, bleeding
  • Muscle or stomach pain
  • Low platelets, low white blood cells, anemia, fluid around the lungs (seen in tests)
RARE
  • Pneumonia, herpes virus infection, severe blood or tissue infection
  • Heart attack (which can be fatal), irregular heartbeats, low or high blood pressure, chest pain
  • Stomach ulcer, difficulty swallowing, pancreatitis, bowel obstruction
  • Severe allergic reaction, hearing loss, vision problems, memory loss
  • Kidney failure, diabetes, seizures, stroke
  • Swelling of lymph nodes, liver inflammation, abnormal heart electrical activity (seen in tests)

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to dasatinib or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Tell your doctor if you are taking blood thinners or medicines that prevent blood clots.
  • Tell your doctor if you have or have had liver or heart disease.
  • Contact your doctor if you experience breathing difficulties, chest pain, or cough during treatment, as it could be a sign of fluid buildup in the lungs.
  • Tell your doctor if you have ever had or currently have a Hepatitis B infection, as the medicine may reactivate it.

  • Contact your doctor if you experience bruising, bleeding, fever, tiredness, or confusion.
  • Do not use Dasatinib Viatris at the same time as certain antifungal, antibiotic, antiviral, epilepsy, tuberculosis, or stomach acid-reducing medicines.
  • Do not take antacids (stomach acid neutralizers) 2 hours before or 2 hours after taking Dasatinib Viatris.
  • Avoid grapefruit and grapefruit juice while taking Dasatinib Viatris.
  • Dasatinib Viatris should not be used during pregnancy unless absolutely necessary. Discuss risks with your doctor.
  • If you are breastfeeding, you must stop breastfeeding during treatment.
  • Be careful when driving or operating machines if you experience dizziness or blurred vision.
