How to Use

Dosage

For adults, the typical starting dose is 100 mg or 140 mg once daily, depending on the type of leukemia. For children, the dose depends on their weight.

Method

Swallow the tablet whole with or without food. Do not crush, divide, or chew it.

Important

Your doctor will determine your maximum daily dose. For adults, the initial maximum is typically 140 mg.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Infections (bacterial, viral, fungal)
  • Shortness of breath
  • Diarrhea, feeling unwell, nausea, vomiting
  • Rash, fever, swelling (face, hands, feet), headache, tiredness, weakness, bleeding
  • Muscle pain (during or after treatment), stomach pain
  • Low platelet count, low white blood cell count, anemia, fluid around the lungs
  • Pneumonia, herpes virus infection (including CMV), upper respiratory tract infection, severe blood or tissue infection
  • Palpitations, irregular heartbeats, heart failure, weak heart muscle, high blood pressure, high blood pressure in the lungs, cough
  • Appetite changes, taste changes, bloated stomach, colon inflammation, constipation, heartburn, mouth sores, weight gain/loss, gastritis
  • Tingling skin, itching, dry skin, acne, skin inflammation, ringing in ears, hair loss, sweating, blurred vision, dry eyes, small skin bleeds, depression, insomnia, flushing, dizziness, bruises, loss of appetite, drowsiness, general swelling
  • Joint pain, muscle weakness, chest pain, pain in hands and feet, chills, muscle/joint stiffness, muscle cramps
RARE
  • Heart attack, inflammation around the heart, irregular heartbeats, chest pain due to poor blood supply to the heart, low blood pressure, narrowed airways (can cause breathing difficulties), asthma, increased blood pressure in lung arteries
  • Pancreatitis, stomach ulcer, esophagitis, abdominal swelling, anal fissure, difficulty swallowing, gallbladder inflammation, bile duct blockage, acid reflux
  • Allergic reaction (with painful red skin lumps), anxiety, confusion, mood swings, decreased sex drive, fainting, tremors, painful eye inflammation, skin disease with red patches and fever, hearing loss, light sensitivity, vision loss, increased tear production, skin color changes, inflamed fat under skin, skin ulcers, blistering skin, nail problems, hair problems, hand-foot syndrome, kidney failure, frequent urination, enlarged breasts in men, menstrual disorders, general weakness, malaise, underactive thyroid, balance problems, bone death, arthritis, widespread skin swelling
  • Vein inflammation (phlebitis) with redness, tenderness, swelling; tendonitis
  • Memory loss
  • Enlarged right heart chamber, heart muscle inflammation, coronary artery disease, cardiac arrest, inflammation of heart/lung lining, blood clots, lung blood clots
  • Loss of vital nutrients from digestive tract, bowel obstruction, anal fistula, kidney problems, diabetes
  • Seizures, optic nerve inflammation (leading to vision loss), bluish skin discoloration, overactive thyroid, thyroid inflammation, ataxia (muscle coordination issues), difficulty walking, miscarriage, inflamed skin blood vessels, skin hardening
  • Stroke, temporary nervous system dysfunction due to blood flow issues, facial paralysis, dementia
  • Severe allergic reaction
  • Slowed bone formation in joints, slowed or delayed growth
  • Lung inflammation, life-threatening stomach or intestinal bleeding, reactivation of hepatitis B (if you had it before), fever with skin blisters and ulcers, kidney disease (swelling, abnormal lab tests), blood vessel damage (with reduced red blood cells, platelets, and blood clots)

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to dasatinib or any of its ingredients.
  • Tell your doctor if you take medicines that thin your blood or prevent blood clots.
  • Inform your doctor if you have or have had liver or heart disease.
  • Seek medical help if you experience breathing difficulties, chest pain, or a cough. These could be signs of fluid in your lungs.
  • Tell your doctor if you have ever had hepatitis B, as this medicine can reactivate it.

  • Contact your doctor if you experience bruising, bleeding, fever, tiredness, and confusion. This could indicate blood vessel damage.
  • Do not take antacids (medicines for stomach acid) 2 hours before or 2 hours after taking Dasatinib Stada.
  • Avoid grapefruit and grapefruit juice while taking this medicine.
  • This medicine should not be used during pregnancy unless absolutely necessary.
  • Stop breastfeeding while taking this medicine.
