Dasatinib Sandoz

Dasatinib Sandoz is a medicine used to treat certain types of blood cancer, like chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) and acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), in adults and children over 1 year old by stopping the growth of cancer cells.

How to Use

Dosage

Adults with chronic CML usually start with 100 mg once a day. For more advanced CML or a type of ALL, adults usually start with 140 mg once a day. For children, the dose is based on their weight: 40 mg for 10-<20 kg, 60 mg for 20-<30 kg, 70 mg for 30-<45 kg, and 100 mg for 45 kg and over, once a day.

Method

Take the tablets whole at the same time each day. Do not crush, divide, or chew them. You can take them with or without food.

Your doctor will decide your exact dose and may adjust it based on how you respond to the medicine. Do not change your dose without talking to your doctor.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Infections (like bacterial, viral, fungal)
  • Shortness of breath or cough
  • Diarrhea, nausea, or vomiting
  • Skin rash or fever
  • Swelling in your face, hands, feet, or other body parts
  • Headache or feeling very tired
  • Bleeding or bruising
  • Muscle or joint pain
  • Low blood counts (like low platelets, white blood cells, or red blood cells)
  • Fluid around the lungs or heart
RARE
  • Heart attack or severe heart problems
  • Serious bleeding in the stomach or intestines
  • Stroke or temporary brain problems
  • Severe allergic reaction
  • Seizures or nerve problems (e.g., affecting vision or balance)
  • Severe skin reactions (like blistering or peeling)
  • Liver or kidney problems
  • Blood clots
  • Diabetes
  • Bone problems (such as bone death or slower growth in children)

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to dasatinib or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Tell your doctor if you are taking medicines that thin your blood or prevent blood clots.
  • Inform your doctor if you have or have had liver or heart problems.
  • Contact your doctor immediately if you experience breathing difficulties, chest pain, or a cough during treatment.
  • Tell your doctor if you have or have had a Hepatitis B infection, as this medicine can reactivate it.

  • Seek medical attention if you notice unexpected bruising, bleeding, fever, tiredness, or confusion.
  • Do not take antacids (medicines that reduce stomach acid) 2 hours before or 2 hours after taking Dasatinib Sandoz.
  • Avoid grapefruit and grapefruit juice while taking this medicine.
  • Do not use if pregnant or breastfeeding. Discuss contraception with your doctor.
