How to Use

Dosage

For adults with chronic myeloid leukemia (CML), the usual starting dose is 100 mg once a day. For adults with accelerated phase CML or Ph+ ALL, the usual starting dose is 140 mg once a day. For children, the dose depends on body weight and will be determined by your doctor.

Method

Take the tablet whole at the same time each day, with or without food. Do not crush, split, or chew it.

Important

Your doctor will determine the maximum daily dose based on your response to treatment.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Infections (bacterial, viral, fungal)
  • Shortness of breath
  • Diarrhea, nausea, vomiting
  • Rash, fever, swelling in face, hands, and feet, headache, feeling tired or weak, bleeding
  • Muscle pain (during or after treatment), stomach pain
  • Low platelet count, low white blood cell count (neutropenia), anemia, fluid around the lungs
  • Pneumonia, herpes virus infection (including CMV), upper respiratory tract infection, severe blood or tissue infection (including rare cases leading to death)
  • Heart palpitations, irregular heartbeat, heart failure, abnormal heart function, high blood pressure, high blood pressure in the lungs, cough
  • Appetite changes, taste changes, bloating or swollen stomach, colon inflammation, constipation, heartburn, mouth sores, weight gain, weight loss, stomach inflammation
RARE
  • Heart attack (sometimes deadly), inflammation of the heart lining, irregular heart rhythms, chest pain, low blood pressure, narrowed airways making breathing difficult, asthma, high blood pressure in lung arteries
  • Pancreatitis, stomach ulcer, esophagus inflammation, swollen stomach, anal fissure, difficulty swallowing, gallbladder inflammation, bile duct blockage, reflux disease
  • Allergic reaction, tender red skin lumps (erythema nodosum), anxiety, confusion, mood swings, decreased sex drive, fainting, tremor, eye inflammation, skin condition (neutrophilic dermatosis), hearing loss, light sensitivity, impaired vision, increased tear production, pigment changes, inflammation of fatty tissue under skin, skin ulcer, blistering skin, nail disorder, hair disorder, hand-foot syndrome, kidney problems, frequent urination, male breast enlargement, menstrual disorders, general weakness, low thyroid function, balance problems, bone death (osteonecrosis), arthritis, fluid retention in the skin
  • Vein inflammation, tendonitis
  • Memory loss
  • Abnormal blood tests and possible kidney problems (tumor lysis syndrome); low albumin in blood; low lymphocyte count; high cholesterol; swollen lymph nodes; brain bleeding; irregular heart electrical activity; enlarged heart; liver inflammation; protein in urine; increased creatine kinase; increased troponin; increased gamma-glutamyltransferase; milky fluid around lungs (chylothorax)
  • Enlarged right heart chamber, heart muscle inflammation, various heart blood flow problems (coronary artery attacks), cardiac arrest, coronary artery disease, inflammation of heart and lung lining, blood clots, pulmonary embolism
  • Loss of vital nutrients (like protein) from digestive tract, bowel obstruction, anal fistula, worsening kidney function, diabetes
  • Seizures; optic nerve inflammation leading to complete or partial vision loss; bluish-red skin discoloration (livedo reticularis); overactive thyroid; thyroid inflammation; ataxia (muscle coordination disorder), difficulty walking, miscarriage, skin blood vessel inflammation, skin fibrosis
  • Stroke, temporary neurological problems caused by transient ischemic attack, facial nerve paralysis, dementia
  • Severe allergic reaction
  • Delayed bone fusion at growth plates (epiphyses); slowed or delayed growth
  • Lung inflammation
  • Life-threatening stomach or intestinal bleeding
  • Reactivation of hepatitis B infection
  • Fever reaction, blisters on skin and mucous membrane ulcers
  • Kidney disease with symptoms like swelling and abnormal lab results (e.g., protein in urine, low blood protein)
  • Blood vessel damage (thrombotic microangiopathy, TMA) with reduced red blood cells, reduced platelets, and blood clots

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to dasatinib or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Tell your doctor if you take medicines that thin your blood or prevent blood clots.
  • Tell your doctor if you have or have had liver or heart problems.
  • Seek medical help if you get breathing difficulties, chest pain, or cough while taking this medicine, as it could be a sign of fluid buildup.
  • Inform your doctor if you have or have had hepatitis B, as this medicine can reactivate it.

  • Contact your doctor immediately if you experience bruising, bleeding, fever, tiredness, and confusion, as these could be signs of blood vessel damage.
  • Do not give this medicine to children younger than 1 year old.
  • Do not eat grapefruit or drink grapefruit juice during treatment.
  • Inform your doctor immediately if you are pregnant or think you might be; this medicine should not be used during pregnancy unless absolutely necessary.
  • If you are breastfeeding, tell your doctor; you must stop breastfeeding while taking Dasatinib Krka.
  • Be careful when driving or operating machines if you experience dizziness or blurred vision.
