Dasatinib Krka

Dasatinib Krka is a medicine used to treat certain blood cancers, such as chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) and acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), by stopping the growth of cancer cells.

How to Use

Dosage

The usual starting dose for adults is 100 mg once daily for chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) or 140 mg once daily for accelerated phase or acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL); children's dose is based on weight.

Method

Take the tablets whole at the same time each day; do not crush, split, or chew them. You can take them with or without food.

Important

Your doctor will determine your maximum daily dose based on your response to treatment.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Infections (e.g., caused by bacteria, viruses, or fungi)
  • Shortness of breath
  • Diarrhea, feeling unwell, or vomiting
  • Rash, fever, swelling in face, hands, and feet, headache, tiredness or weakness, bleeding
  • Muscle pain (during or after treatment), stomach pain
  • Tests may show: low platelet count, low white blood cell count (neutropenia), anemia, fluid around the lungs
  • Pneumonia, herpes virus infection, upper respiratory tract infection, severe blood or tissue infection
  • Heart palpitations, irregular heartbeats, heart failure, high blood pressure, cough
  • Appetite changes, taste disturbances, swollen abdomen, colon inflammation, constipation, heartburn, mouth sores, weight gain or loss, gastritis
  • Skin tingling, itching, dry skin, acne, skin inflammation, persistent ringing in ears, hair loss, excessive sweating, vision problems (blurred or decreased vision), dry eyes, bleeding under the skin, depression, insomnia, flushing, dizziness, bruises, loss of appetite, drowsiness, generalized swelling
  • Joint pain, muscle weakness, chest pain, pain in hands and feet, chills, stiff muscles and joints, muscle cramps
  • Tests may show: fluid around the heart, fluid in the lungs, irregular heartbeat, febrile neutropenia, gastrointestinal bleeding, high uric acid in blood
RARE
  • Heart attack (sometimes fatal), pericarditis, irregular heartbeat, chest pain due to poor blood flow to the heart, low blood pressure, airway narrowing causing breathing difficulties, asthma, high blood pressure in lung arteries
  • Pancreatitis, stomach ulcer, esophagitis, swollen abdomen, anal fissure, difficulty swallowing, gallbladder inflammation, bile duct blockage, acid reflux
  • Allergic reaction (e.g., tender, red skin lumps), anxiety, confusion, mood swings, decreased libido, fainting, tremors, eye inflammation (red or painful), skin disease (red, raised patches with fever), hearing loss, photosensitivity, impaired vision, increased tear production, skin pigmentation changes, inflammation of subcutaneous fat, skin ulcer, skin blistering, nail disorders, hair disorders, hand-foot syndrome, kidney failure, frequent urination, breast enlargement in men, menstrual disorders, general weakness and malaise, low thyroid function, balance problems while walking, osteonecrosis, arthritis, skin swelling anywhere on the body
  • Vessel inflammation (redness, tenderness, and swelling), tendonitis
  • Memory loss
  • Tests may show: abnormal blood test results, kidney impairment due to tumor breakdown, low blood albumin, low lymphocyte count in blood, high cholesterol, swollen lymph nodes, brain hemorrhage, irregular electrical activity of the heart, enlarged heart, liver inflammation, protein in urine, increased creatine kinase and troponin levels, increased gamma-glutamyl transferase levels, milky fluid around the lungs
  • Enlargement of the right heart chamber, myocarditis, various heart circulation disorders (heart attack events), cardiac arrest, coronary artery disease, inflammation of the heart and lung lining, blood clots, pulmonary embolism
  • Loss of vital nutrients from the digestive tract, bowel obstruction, anal fistula, kidney impairment, diabetes
  • Seizures, optic nerve inflammation (can cause partial or complete vision loss), bluish skin patches, hyperthyroidism, thyroiditis, ataxia (lack of muscle coordination), difficulty walking, miscarriage, skin blood vessel inflammation, skin hardening
  • Stroke, transient ischemic attack (TIA), facial nerve paralysis, dementia
  • Severe allergic reaction
  • Delayed bone growth, delayed growth

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to dasatinib or any other ingredients.
  • Tell your doctor if you are taking medicines that thin your blood.
  • Tell your doctor if you have or have had liver or heart disease.
  • Seek medical attention if you experience breathing difficulties, chest pain, or a cough; these could be signs of fluid buildup in your lungs.
  • Inform your doctor if you have ever had or might have a Hepatitis B infection, as this medicine can reactivate it.

  • Contact your doctor immediately if you experience bruising, bleeding, fever, tiredness, or confusion, as these could be signs of blood vessel problems.
  • Contact your doctor immediately if you notice blood in your vomit, stools, or urine, or if your stools are black.
  • Seek medical attention if you have signs of infection, such as fever or severe chills.
  • Seek medical attention if you have fever, a sore mouth or throat, or blisters and peeling skin.
  • This medicine should not be given to children under 1 year old.
  • Do not take antacids (stomach acid medicines) within two hours before or two hours after taking Dasatinib Krka.
  • Do not eat grapefruit or drink grapefruit juice while taking this medicine.
  • Do not use this medicine during pregnancy unless your doctor considers it absolutely necessary.
  • You must stop breastfeeding while taking this medicine.
  • Be careful when driving or operating machines if you experience dizziness or blurred vision.
