How to Use

Dosage

The usual dose is one 800 mg Darunavir Sandoz tablet (or two 400 mg tablets) once a day.

Method

Take your tablet(s) once a day with food, along with 150 mg of cobicistat or 100 mg of ritonavir. You must eat a meal or snack no more than 30 minutes before taking this medicine. Swallow the tablet(s) with a drink like water or milk.

Important

The maximum daily dose is 800 mg, taken once a day.

  • Breathing difficulties, cough, nosebleeds, throat irritation
  • Stomach or mouth inflammation, heartburn, dry mouth, abdominal discomfort, constipation, burping, gagging
  • Kidney problems (kidney failure, kidney stones, difficulty or frequent urination)
  • Hives, severe swelling of skin (lips or eyes), eczema, excessive sweating (including night sweats), hair loss, acne, flaky skin, discolored nails
  • Muscle pain, cramps or weakness, limb pain, bone weakening (osteoporosis)
  • Underactive thyroid gland (shown in blood tests)
  • High blood pressure, flushing
  • Red or dry eyes
  • Fever, leg swelling due to fluid retention, general unwell feeling, irritability, pain, infection symptoms (like herpes simplex)
  • Erectile dysfunction, breast enlargement in men
  • Sleep problems, drowsiness, depression, anxiety, abnormal dreams, reduced sex drive
  • Severe allergic reaction called DRESS (rash, fever, fatigue, swollen face or lymph nodes, changes in blood cells, effects on liver, kidneys, or lungs)
  • Heart attack, slow or fast heartbeat, palpitations
  • Vision problems
  • Chills, feeling unwell
  • Confusion, mood changes, restlessness
  • Fainting, seizures (epileptic attacks), changes or loss of taste
  • Mouth sores, vomiting blood, lip inflammation, dry lips, coated tongue
  • Runny nose
  • Skin damage, dry skin
  • Stiff muscles or joints, joint pain (with or without inflammation)
  • Darunavir crystals in the kidneys causing kidney disease

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to darunavir, cobicistat, ritonavir, or any other ingredients, or if you have severe liver disease.
  • This medicine does not cure HIV infection; you must continue seeing your doctor regularly.
  • Skin rash can occur, sometimes severe. Contact your doctor immediately if you develop a rash.
  • Inform your doctor if you have had liver problems, including Hepatitis B or C, as this medicine can affect your liver.
  • This medicine may increase blood sugar levels. Tell your doctor if you have diabetes.

  • If you have a bleeding disorder (like haemophilia), this medicine might increase your risk of bleeding.
  • Inform your doctor if you are allergic to sulfonamides.
  • Report any muscle or bone problems to your doctor.
  • Do not drive or use machines if you feel dizzy after taking this medicine.
  • Do not stop taking this medicine without talking to your doctor first, even if you feel better.
  • Do not use this medicine with products containing St. John's Wort.
