How to Use

Dosage

Adults typically take either 600 mg of Darunavir Sandoz twice a day or 800 mg once a day, always with 100 mg ritonavir.

Method

Always take Darunavir Sandoz with ritonavir and food. Swallow the tablets whole with a drink like water or milk.

Important

The maximum daily dose is 1200 mg (600 mg twice a day) or 800 mg (once a day), depending on your doctor's prescribed regimen.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Diarrhea
  • Nausea, vomiting, stomach pain or bloating
  • Headache, tiredness, dizziness, drowsiness
  • Numbness, tingling or pain in hands or feet
RARE
  • Severe rash (DRESS syndrome), with fever, tiredness, and swelling of the face or lymph nodes
  • Chest pain, heart attack, slow heartbeat, or fast heartbeat
  • Kidney failure, kidney stones, difficulty urinating, frequent or increased urination, or darunavir crystals in kidneys
  • Confusion, disorientation, mood changes, restlessness, depression, anxiety, or unusual dreams
  • Muscle pain, cramps, weakness, joint stiffness, joint pain, or bone problems (osteonecrosis)

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to darunavir, ritonavir, or any other ingredients.
  • Tell your doctor if you have severe liver disease, as you may not be able to take this medicine.
  • Darunavir Sandoz does not cure HIV infection.
  • You can still get other infections or HIV-related illnesses while taking this medicine. See your doctor regularly.
  • A rash may occur, which can sometimes be serious or life-threatening. Tell your doctor right away if you develop a rash.

  • Do not stop taking Darunavir Sandoz and ritonavir without talking to your doctor first, even if you feel better.
  • Do not drive or use machines if you feel dizzy after taking Darunavir Sandoz.
  • If you have hemophilia (a bleeding disorder), Darunavir Sandoz may increase your risk of bleeding.
  • Tell your doctor if you are allergic to sulfonamides (a type of medicine).
  • This medicine contains para-orange (E110), which may cause allergic reactions.
