How to Use

Dosage

Take one 800 mg tablet or two 400 mg tablets once a day. Always take it with 150 mg of cobicistat or 100 mg of ritonavir.

Method

Always take the medicine with food and swallow it with water or milk.

Important

The maximum dose is 1200 mg of darunavir per day (e.g., two 600 mg doses with ritonavir).

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Diarrhea
  • Nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, bloating, indigestion, flatulence
  • Headache, fatigue, dizziness, drowsiness
  • Numbness, tingling, or pain in hands or feet, muscle weakness, difficulty sleeping
RARE
  • Rash, hives, swelling of skin and tissues (e.g., lips, eyes), eczema, hair loss, acne, severe skin reactions (DRESS syndrome)
  • Chest pain, fast or slow heart rate, heart attack, high blood pressure, flushing
  • Liver problems (yellow skin/eyes, dark urine), kidney problems, kidney stones, difficulty urinating, frequent urination, darunavir crystals in kidneys
  • Muscle pain, muscle cramps or weakness, limb pain, osteoporosis, joint stiffness and pain
  • Difficulty concentrating, memory impairment, balance problems, confusion, mood changes, anxiety, depression, abnormal dreams, fainting, epileptic seizures, altered/lost taste
  • Breathing difficulties, cough, nosebleeds, throat irritation, runny nose
  • Mouth ulcers, dry mouth, heartburn, constipation, burping, vomiting blood, fever, chills, general malaise, irritability, pain, swelling of lower limbs, red or dry eyes, underactive thyroid, changes in blood tests, infection symptoms (herpes simplex), breast enlargement in men, erectile dysfunction, reduced libido

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to darunavir, other ingredients in this medicine, cobicistat, or ritonavir.
  • Do not use if you have severe liver disease.
  • This medicine does not cure HIV, and you can still transmit it to others. Use protection.
  • Contact your doctor immediately if you develop a rash, as it can be serious.
  • Do not use Darunavir Accord with products containing St. John's Wort.

  • Pregnant or breastfeeding women should not use this medicine (especially with cobicistat or ritonavir). Talk to your doctor.
  • Do not drive or operate machinery if the medicine makes you dizzy.
  • Tell your doctor if you have liver or kidney problems, diabetes, a bleeding disorder (hemophilia), or a sulfa allergy.
  • Tell your doctor if you develop muscle or bone problems, such as joint pain or stiffness.
