Daptomycin Norameda is an antibiotic used to treat serious infections of the skin, heart, and blood caused by certain bacteria.
Your doctor or nurse will give you this medicine. The dose depends on your weight and the type of infection. For adults, it's usually 4 mg per kg for skin infections or 6 mg per kg for heart/blood infections, given once a day. For children (2-17 years), the dose is 5-9 mg per kg once a day, depending on age.
The medicine is given directly into your vein. Adults may receive it as a slow drip (infusion) over 30-60 minutes or a quick injection over 2 minutes. Children receive it as an infusion over 30-60 minutes.
Do not take more than one dose per day. Your doctor will decide how long you need to take the medicine, usually 1-2 weeks for skin infections.
