How to Use

Dosage

For skin infections, 4 mg per kg of body weight once daily. For heart or blood infections, 6 mg per kg of body weight once daily.

Method

It is given into your vein by a doctor or nurse. For adults, it's either a slow drip over about 30 minutes or a quick shot over about 2 minutes. For children (1-17 years), it's a slow drip over 30-60 minutes.

Important

The maximum daily dose is the prescribed amount (either 4 mg/kg or 6 mg/kg) given once a day.

  • Blood disorders (e.g., increased platelets or white blood cells)
  • Decreased appetite
  • Tingling or numbness in hands or feet
  • Changes in taste
  • Tremor (shaking)
  • Changes in heart rhythm
  • Flushing (redness)
  • Indigestion
  • Tongue inflammation
  • Itchy skin rash
  • Muscle pain, cramps, or weakness
  • Muscle inflammation
  • Joint pain
  • Kidney problems
  • Vaginal inflammation or irritation
  • General pain or weakness
  • Fatigue (tiredness)
  • Increased blood sugar, serum creatinine, myoglobin, or LDH in blood tests
  • Prolonged blood clotting time
  • Salt imbalance
  • Itchy eyes
  • Yellowing of skin or eyes
  • Prolonged prothrombin time (a blood clotting test result)

Important Warnings

  • Do not use this medicine if you are allergic to daptomycin or any other ingredients listed in section 6.
  • Tell your doctor if you have or have had kidney problems, as your dose might need to be adjusted.
  • Tell your doctor right away if you experience muscle pain, tenderness, or weakness, as blood tests may be needed.
  • Seek immediate medical help if you develop severe skin reactions like rashes, peeling skin, blisters, or sores in your mouth or genitals.
  • Tell your doctor if you are very overweight, as your blood levels of the medicine might be higher, and you may need closer monitoring.

  • Get urgent medical help if you have sudden, severe allergic reactions, which can include wheezing, trouble breathing, swelling of your face, neck, or throat, rash, hives, or fever.
  • Tell your doctor if you experience tingling, numbness, or difficulty moving your hands or feet.
  • Report any severe or long-lasting diarrhea, especially if it contains blood or mucus.
  • Tell your doctor immediately if you have fever, worsening cough, or trouble breathing, as these could be signs of a rare but serious lung condition.
  • This medicine can affect blood clotting tests, so it's important to tell your doctor you are taking Daptomycin Accordpharma.
  • Do not give this medicine to children under 1 year old, as animal studies have shown it can cause serious side effects in this age group.
  • Do not breastfeed while using this medicine, as it may pass into breast milk and affect the baby.
  • Tell your doctor about all other medicines you are taking, especially cholesterol-lowering drugs (statins, fibrates), ciclosporin, pain relievers (NSAIDs, COX-2 inhibitors), and blood thinners (like warfarin), as they can interact with Daptomycin Accordpharma.
