How to Use

Dosage

The recommended dose is one suppository every evening for 3 nights in a row.

Method

Remove the suppository from its packaging. Lie on your back with your knees bent towards your chest. Insert the suppository as deep as possible into the vagina with your middle fingertip without causing discomfort. Wash your hands after use.

Important

The maximum daily dose is one suppository.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Fungal or yeast infections (including vaginal yeast infection)
  • Headache
  • Stomach pain, diarrhea, feeling sick (nausea)
  • Itching (not in the vagina)
  • Vaginal pain or discomfort, vaginal irritation
RARE
  • Vomiting
  • Skin rash
  • Upper stomach or back pain
  • Fever, chills, general feeling of being unwell
  • Painful urination, blood in urine, cloudy or bad-smelling urine, frequent urination, or strong urge to urinate
  • Vaginal infection, vaginal discharge, menstrual problems
  • Pain, itching, or swelling at the application site in the vagina

Important Warnings

  • Do not use Dalacin if you are allergic to clindamycin, another antibiotic called lincomycin, or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not use Dalacin if you have ever had severe bowel inflammation (colitis) or other inflammatory bowel disease (like Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis) after taking antibiotics.
  • Contact your doctor right away if you get severe, lasting, or bloody diarrhea during or after using Dalacin.
  • Do not use Dalacin if you are under 16 years old.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have kidney, liver, or immune system problems, or if you are over 65 years old.

  • Avoid sex during treatment. Dalacin can make condoms and diaphragms less effective; do not rely on them during treatment or for 72 hours after.
  • Do not use other vaginal products like tampons or douches during treatment.
  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, talk to your doctor. Dalacin is not recommended in the first 3 months of pregnancy. If breastfeeding and your baby develops bloody diarrhea or signs of illness, stop breastfeeding and contact your doctor.
  • Do not use if the foil pouch containing the suppositories is torn, open, or not properly sealed.
  • Keep suppositories away from heat, as it can soften them and change their shape.
