Daktarin cream treats fungal and yeast infections on the skin, including athlete's foot, and can help with bacterial infections that appear with a fungal rash.

How to Use

Dosage

Apply a thin layer to the infected skin area twice a day. If you also use Daktarin powder, apply the cream once a day and the powder once a day, unless your doctor says otherwise.

Method

First, wash and dry the infected skin area well. Then, gently rub the cream onto the infected skin and the area around it with your fingertips. After you use the cream, wash your hands thoroughly to prevent the infection from spreading to other skin areas or to other people.

Important

Do not use Daktarin more than twice a day. Using too much can cause redness, swelling, or a warm feeling on your skin.

Possible Side Effects

RARE
  • Burning feeling on the skin
  • Skin irritation or inflammation
  • Skin lightening
  • Irritation, warmth, burning, or itching where the cream was applied
  • Allergic reactions or sensitivity
  • Swelling of the face, lips, mouth, tongue, or throat
  • Hives or skin rash
  • Skin rash from contact (contact dermatitis)
  • Redness of the skin
  • General itching

Important Warnings

  • Do not use Daktarin if you are allergic to miconazole nitrate, similar antifungal medicines, or any other ingredients in Daktarin.
  • Stop using Daktarin and see a doctor right away if you get signs of a severe allergic reaction. These signs include swelling of your face, lips, mouth, tongue, or throat, trouble swallowing or breathing, or itchy rash (hives).
  • If you take blood thinning medicines like warfarin, stop Daktarin and talk to your doctor immediately if you have unusual bleeding or bruising, nosebleeds, cough up blood, have blood in your urine, black tarry stools, or vomit that looks like coffee grounds.
  • Always wash your hands well after using Daktarin, unless you are treating your hands. To stop the infection from spreading, use your own towel and often change clothes that touch infected skin. Do not get the medicine in your eyes.

Category A
