How to Use
Dosage
The typical dose is 220 mg once daily. For some patients, such as the elderly or those with reduced kidney function, the dose may be 150 mg once daily. A doctor will determine the correct dose for children.
Method
Swallow the capsule whole with a glass of water, with or without food. Do not break, chew, or open the capsule, as this increases the risk of bleeding.
Important
For adults, the maximum daily dose for preventing blood clots is 220 mg once daily. For children, the maximum dose depends on weight and age, as determined by the doctor.
Possible Side Effects
COMMON
- •Bruising, nosebleeds, or minor bleeding.
- •Stomach upset, nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea.
- •Changes in liver function tests.
RARE
- •Severe bleeding, such as bleeding in the brain or stomach.

Important Warnings
