How to Use

Dosage

The usual starting dose for adults is 5 mg or 10 mg once daily. Your doctor may adjust the dose as needed. For children and adolescents (6-17 years), the dose is 5-20 mg once daily.

Method

Take the tablet whole with water once a day. You can take it with or without food, but try to take it at the same time each day.

Important

The maximum daily dose for adults is 40 mg. For children and adolescents (6-17 years), the maximum daily dose is 10 mg or 20 mg depending on the condition. Crestor 40 mg tablets should not be used in children under 18 years.

  • Nerve damage (e.g., numbness)
  • Joint pain
  • Memory loss
  • Breast enlargement in men
  • Diarrhea
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath
  • Swelling
  • Sleep problems (insomnia, nightmares)
  • Sexual problems
  • Depression
  • Long-term muscle weakness, which can affect muscles in the eyes or used for breathing

Important Warnings

  • Do not use Crestor if you are allergic to rosuvastatin or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not use Crestor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. If you become pregnant, stop taking the medicine and contact your doctor immediately.
  • Do not use Crestor if you have liver disease or severe kidney disease.
  • Contact your doctor immediately if you experience unusual, unexplained muscle pain or aches that last for a long time. This is an important warning due to the risk of muscle damage.
  • Stop taking Crestor and seek immediate medical attention if you develop severe skin reactions like peeling skin, blisters, sores, or fever.

  • Tell your doctor if you have or have had myasthenia (general muscle weakness) or ocular myasthenia (eye muscle weakness), as statins can sometimes worsen these conditions.
  • If you need to take fusidic acid (an antibiotic), you must temporarily stop taking Crestor. Your doctor will tell you when it is safe to resume.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Reduce the dose in moderately severe renal impairment. Do not use in severe renal impairment. Possible adverse effects include muscle pain and muscular weakness. Concurrent use of aluminium and magnesium reduces the effectiveness of the drug,. Consider potential interactions.
