How to Use

Dosage

The usual starting dose for adults is 5 mg or 10 mg once a day. For children aged 6-17, the starting dose is usually 5 mg once a day, and it can be adjusted up to 10 mg or 20 mg depending on their condition.

Method

Swallow the tablet whole with water, once daily. You can take it at any time of day, with or without food. Try to take it at the same time each day to help you remember.

Important

The maximum daily dose for adults is 40 mg. Children should not take the 40 mg tablet.

  • Memory loss
  • Breast enlargement in men
  • Diarrhea
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath
  • Swelling
  • Sleep problems (like trouble sleeping or nightmares)
  • Sexual problems
  • Depression
  • Tendon damage or ongoing muscle weakness
  • General muscle weakness (Myasthenia gravis) or eye muscle weakness (ocular myasthenia)

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to rosuvastatin or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not use if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.
  • Do not use if you have severe liver disease or severe kidney problems.
  • Stop taking Crestor and tell your doctor immediately if you experience unusual muscle pain that lasts longer than expected, especially if you also feel unwell or have a fever.
  • Stop taking Crestor and seek medical help right away if you get a severe skin rash, peeling skin, blisters around your mouth, eyes, or genitals, or a widespread rash with fever.

  • Tell your doctor if you have an underactive thyroid gland, regularly drink a lot of alcohol, are of Asian origin, or are taking other medicines that lower cholesterol (fibrates) or medicines for HIV/Hepatitis C.
  • If you need to take fusidic acid for an infection, you must temporarily stop Crestor. Your doctor will tell you when it's safe to restart.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Reduce the dose in moderately severe renal impairment. Do not use in severe renal impairment. Possible adverse effects include muscle pain and muscular weakness. Concurrent use of aluminium and magnesium reduces the effectiveness of the drug,. Consider potential interactions.
