Creon contains pancreatic enzymes that help your body digest food if your pancreas isn't making enough.
Your doctor will determine the exact dose based on your condition, weight, and diet. Typically, it ranges from 500–1000 lipase units/kg per meal for children and 25,000–80,000 lipase units per meal for adults with other pancreatic conditions.
Take capsules whole with or immediately after a meal or snack. Do not crush or chew the capsules. If swallowing is difficult, open the capsule and mix the granules with a small amount of soft, acidic food (e.g., yogurt, apple sauce) or acidic liquid (e.g., juice) and swallow immediately. Remember to drink plenty of fluids daily.
Your doctor will set your maximum daily dose. Do not exceed 10,000 lipase units per kg of body weight per day without medical advice, especially if you have cystic fibrosis.
