How to Use

Dosage

The usual starting dose is 2.5 mg or 5 mg once daily, adjusted by your doctor based on your condition.

Method

Swallow the tablet with a glass of water, preferably in the morning before a meal.

Important

The maximum daily dose is 10 mg.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Headache, dizziness, spinning sensation, tingling
  • Vision problems, ringing in ears
  • Cough, shortness of breath
  • Stomach problems (nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, changes in taste, indigestion, diarrhea, constipation)
  • Allergic reactions (rashes, itching)
  • Muscle cramps, tiredness
RARE
  • Severe allergic reaction with swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat and difficulty breathing (angioedema).
  • Very low blood pressure causing severe dizziness or fainting.
  • Irregular heartbeat, chest pain, or heart attack.
  • Weakness in arms or legs, or speech problems (possible signs of a stroke).
  • Sudden wheezing, chest tightness, or shortness of breath.
  • Severe stomach and back pain with nausea (signs of pancreas inflammation).
  • Yellowing of skin or eyes (jaundice), a sign of liver inflammation.
  • Red, itchy skin rash, often on face, arms or legs (erythema multiforme).
  • Mood changes, sleep problems, or dry mouth.
  • Kidney problems or reduced urine output.
  • Confusion or seizures.
  • Joint or muscle pain, or swelling in arms/legs.
  • Changes in blood tests (e.g., high potassium, low sodium).

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to perindopril, any other ingredient, or other ACE inhibitors.
  • Stop immediately and see a doctor if you get severe swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat (angioedema).
  • Do not take if you are more than 3 months pregnant. Avoid use during early pregnancy.
  • Do not take if you have diabetes or kidney problems and are taking a blood pressure-lowering medicine with aliskiren.
  • Do not take if you are on dialysis or certain blood filtering treatments.

  • Do not take if you have a kidney problem where blood flow to your kidneys is reduced.
  • Do not take if you are taking a combined medicine with sacubitril and valsartan for heart failure, due to an increased risk of severe swelling.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Reduce the dose in moderately severe renal impairment. Monitor renal function and potassium concentrations during the pharmacotherapy. Avoid concurrent use of NSAIDs. (updated 14.4.2025)
