How to Use

Dosage

Usually one tablet per day.

Method

Swallow the tablet with a glass of water, preferably in the morning before food, at the same time each day.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Swelling (fluid retention in the body)
  • Headache
  • Dizziness or feeling lightheaded
  • Tiredness or feeling weak
  • Cough
  • Feeling sick (nausea) or stomach pain
  • Diarrhea or constipation
  • Muscle cramps
RARE
  • Severe allergic reaction with swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat, leading to difficulty breathing or swallowing.
  • Severe skin reactions like rashes, peeling skin, blisters, or widespread redness (e.g., Stevens-Johnson syndrome).
  • Chest pain, fast or irregular heartbeat, or heart attack.
  • Pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas) causing severe stomach and back pain with feeling very sick.
  • Liver problems, including yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice) or inflammation of the liver (hepatitis).
  • Kidney problems or changes in how much you pee.
  • Mood changes, anxiety, or depression.
  • Numbness or tingling in hands or feet.

Important Warnings

  • Do not take Coveram if you are allergic to perindopril, amlodipine, any other ingredients, or similar blood pressure medicines (ACE inhibitors or calcium channel blockers).
  • Do not take Coveram if you have had severe swelling of the face, tongue, or throat (angioedema) in the past, especially after taking an ACE inhibitor.
  • Do not take Coveram if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, especially after the first 3 months of pregnancy.
  • Do not take Coveram if you have diabetes or kidney problems and are also taking aliskiren (another blood pressure medicine).
  • Do not take Coveram if you are taking a combination medicine containing sacubitril and valsartan for heart failure.

  • Do not take Coveram if you have very low blood pressure, severe narrowing of the heart's main artery (aortic stenosis), or your heart cannot pump enough blood (cardiogenic shock) or severe heart failure after a heart attack.
  • Do not drink grapefruit juice or eat grapefruit while taking Coveram, as it can increase the effect of the medicine.
  • Coveram is not recommended for children and adolescents.
  • If you feel dizzy, tired, or have a headache, do not drive or use machines.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category A

Suitable for older adults. Significant adverse effects include ankle oedema and orthostatic hypotension. Consider potential interactions. Avoid grapefruit. (updated 17.2.2025)
